Alps Vista Retreat - Wanaka

The Alps Vista Retreat is a modern, well-appointed, and recently built apartment. The property management company that rents it out, BCR, was responsive & helpful. It’s in a lovely planned community that’s a 5 min drive from town. There are a few places close enough to walk to, including the popular bar/restaurant MonkeyFarm.

The back bedroom had terrible airflow & there was no way to open the window. I had trouble sleeping because it was impossible to get it to cool down even when the rest of the apartment was ten degrees cooler.

A very pretty apartment that’s clean, new, and comfortable, with well-equipped, new cooking utensils and a host who was quick to respond to all our questions.

The location was very good just far enough away from down town Wanaka

The water pressure on the hand basin in one bathroom was very poor but the other bathroom was very good

Good cooking and laundry facilities. Modern unit with a comfortable bed and bathroom.

The basin tap runs really slowly. The parking spot is around the other side of the building to the door meaning you have to walk around the complex to enter. Mildly annoying in fine weather. The reservations team need to sort out the map location properly and their automatically generated message system is flawed

Nothing, everything was perfect

This property is located in the new suburb of Northlake approx 5 min drive from Wanakas main street. Its near a convenience store and a beautiful art gallery. We liked the fact it was a ground floor unit and had a very well equipped kitchen for cooking, probably one of the best we have ever had on holiday. The beds were comfortable however, they are a Queen in one room and King in the other. The bathrooms are well appointed and we loved the rain head shower and heated bathroom floors. The balcony was lovely to sit and have breakfast on in the sunshine.

The handbasin in one bathroom has very low water pressure, it's not even suitable to brush teeth with. The carpark is located at the rear of the unit, so it meant we had to park out the front to unload the car then move it to our park which was a little frustrating, you cannot access the carpark from the balcony.

One of the best accommodation we came across in a long time. The cleanliness and comfort was exceptional. We love the quite location and the convenience of the corner store. The host made the place very welcoming. Very equip kitchen with good quality appliances. The house was warm as we arrived. The parking is located at the back of the units but we can drive to the front to drop off our bags.

Before I arrived I received an SMS from an unknown number in USA (+1 prefix) with a link to a Boarding Pass, making me nervous. After confirming it was from them I found I had to create an account with another supplier to access the boarding pass - I don't like having accounts all over the world with my details, so not happy with that. Next I started getting alerts from my bank that BCR group was trying to take $250 from my account. I only transfer money into that account as I need it so it bounced. I then spent the next 45 minutes trying to figure out who BCR was and how I could get in touch with them, or whether I should cancel the card - took the edge off the restaurant meal I was having with friends at the time. I finally realised BCR was the manager of the Wanaka house so I called them only to be told they were trying to take a security deposit. I don't know where they told me that was going to happen, but a courtesy message through my booking provider would have allayed my fears. So, although I like the facility and would stay again, I hated the admin approach they use.
