"value for money, calm, but some things could be improved."

7.0

Very calm and quiet, and clean. Dinner can be obtained by ordering at a lady on the other side of the road: very good veg lasagne and veggieballs. Cheap.

the b&b is attended virtually, remotely controlled. I haven't met anybody from the staff, only receiving messages on how to get into the facility, find the keys, grab a dinner, etc. It feels definitely unpersonal. Quite spartan room, with no curtains on the window: early light in the morning, and no privacy! Toilet/bathroom clean and functional, though I'd imagine that with full occupancy (the room accomodates 4 persons, and there are three tents for 6 people) it may be somewhat problematic. The breakfast is a terrible industrial croissant, a couple of biscuits, juice and one coffee capsule to be used in the espresso machine. Save some bread from the dinner, it will be useful.f you are travelling along the via degli dei, going towards Florence you will easily find places to eat a proper breakfast (Monzuno is about 5km on the path). But if you're travelling the other way, good luck in finding something on the road before reaching Casalecchio (25km+): energy bars all the way!

"It’s cheap for a reason. If you’re ready to camp and dont want to spend much money, this can get you by."

4.0

It was cheap and a good distance for me on the Via degli Dei coming out of Bologna. A nice yard, and hot water shower.

My tent was very small. I know I’m tall (191cm), but I could not fit well at all inside the tent I was given. The spiders and bugs I had to evict weren’t unexpected, but I did hope a blanket might be provided.

The location is really nice even though it was a bit tricky to get there. The tent was basic but enough for us. Checking in was smooth and everything was sorted.

The drain in the shower wasn't really working well

The hostess helped us find the location of the accommodation. It has very nice surroundings. It is right on the Via degli dei, but we don't recommend booking it for your first night, as it is quite far from Bologna: around 30 km.

The hostess didn't even come outside the house - she greeted us through the window, and the next day she left before us, just waving to us from the car. We had our own sheets, but as it got quite cold in the evening, we asked our hostess for a blanket, and she said she didn't think it would be cold and didn't give us a blanket. We didn't get a pillow either. There was only one toilet for everybody - the guests in the tents and the guests in the bungalow (and it was part of a bungalow). There was no other place to charge the phone, apart from the socket in the bathroom. It was difficult to refill our bottles as we could only do it in the sink of the toilet. Breakfast was frugal.

This is a great accommodation option, set in the lovely mountains, on the Via Degli Dei and the German Gothic Line of World War 2. It is 5 kms from the train station at Vado, and 4kms from Monzuno. There are buses to both towns. For an inexpensive hot meal (takeaway) option, I would strongly recommend Sonia next door. You will need to book ahead and the host's will give you contact numbers. I tried all 3 accommodations at the residence - tent, bungalow, and apartment -, and they were all cozy and inexpensive. The host couple are most hospitable and helpful. Great value! All was good.
