"Wonderful and memorable."

10.0

The beauty, the history. The hotel staff were incredibly helpful and made our stay even more enjoyable!

Getting to it the first time is a little tricky.

"Exceptional Boutique Palace Hotel"

10.0

This was an amazing hotel with an old world palace like charm. There are only 6 suites that make up this boutique hotel and each one has it's own special charm. We really enjoyed suite Lola, probably one of the nicest suites in the hotel. High ceilings and huge rooms looking out over the Tagus river. All plumbing fixtures where modern, plenty of power outlets, great water pressure, free mini-bar. Breakfast was amazing with eggs to order, bacon, fresh breads, juices and fruit. You had the choice of two elegant dining rooms or an outside patio surrounded by flowering bushes. All very relaxing and quiet, yet just a few minute walk away from the excitement of downtown Lisbon.

A very minor suggestion would be to have better instructions on how to program the safe and control the A/C.

"Lovely and authentic property, great staff. It’s a real treat to experience such a beautiful home."

Staff were very kind and helpful in all matters. Unique, beautiful, and authentic property.

Room Sonia could use a bit of love in interiors but it works as is.

"A quality boutique hotel who's quality takes a little time to appreciate"

8.0

A querky small boutique period hotel full of character. Staff were fabulous and breakfast excellent. Our bedroom with a balcony facing the river was large and well appointed.

The hotel entrance is quite underwhelming & does not show the quality of the hotel. There is no vehicle access to the front lobby and steep steps from the river side. There is no lift. But we still loved it.

"Very nice, but not for everyone."

6.0

Lovely old mansion, furnished with antiques, attractive decor. Gracious and helpful host. Welcoming, good breakfast, comfortable, spacious upstairs suite.

Our room was two floors up. We’re seniors and my wife has a bad knee and needs a cane to go up and down stairs. There is no elevator. Had we known this, we would not have chosen this hotel. It is also located in a dingy alley and you must go up stone stairs or down a cobblestone alley to get there. Again. Challenging for older people with minor mobility issues.

"Marvellous hotel that makes you feel at home"

10.0

It’s was one of the homiest hotels we’ve stayed in - the staff and set up really made us feel like we were staying with friends rather than a hotel. A fantastic breakfast is included (which you can take outside looking over the water if so inclined), very spacious rooms and excellent bathrooms. Would wholeheartedly recommend, especially if you are going on a cruise ship, as the terminal is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel.

There was nothing that affected us personally, but a couple of things for potential travellers to be aware of - this hotel probably is not very friendly for those who are less mobile. There isn’t a lift so you need to be able to walk up a couple of flights of stairs to get to your room. The hotel is also not accessible by public taxi (although they will arrange you a private transfer if required, but this is more expensive) due to road restrictions. A public taxi can get you very close (less than 5 mins walk) but again difficult for those who are not mobile as you need to walk (very briefly) uphill and some steps to reach the door. For 90% of travellers this will be no issue and the hotel is easily worth the travel, but just flagging up for the 10% who it might impact.

"Beautiful Hotel"

10.0

Such a beautiful building to stay in. All our hosts were exceptional. Breakfast was gorgeous. Having bubbles on the terrace with a cigarette was delightful. I would like to thank Rodriguez for helping me with my twisted foot and sorting a pack of ice and a stiff drink! Highly recommended!

We would have preferred a double bed. The bedside tables and lamps were beautiful but very wobbly and I was afraid of breaking the glass! But this is being picky!
