The Keep at Castlegate - Luxury detached retreat in Cragg vale, Hebden Bridge

We chose to stay here because we were visiting Eureka with the children (7 and 2) but was then surpsied at how lovely the property was. Amazing views, which amazed my children! We loved the little woodland walk outside but be prepared for a steep slippery walk if your children are adventurous like mine. The property had everything we needed for a 2 night break. Although, we did take our own stair gate to put on the kids bedroom door, which I was glad of as it gave me peace of mine during the night as the stairs are quite steep. Kelly the host was so good at communicating and even left a lovely basket of goodies, which didn't last long with my 2. Would definitely recommend for a short peaceful get away.

Beautiful little cottage in a great location. Perfect for scenic dog walks and just a short drive away from the lovely Hebden Bridge. Great food at the pub just over the road too and a visit to Craggie's farm shop and cafe is an absolute must!!! We thoroughly enjoyed switching off completely from our normal city working life. We love holidaying in more rural areas with our fur babies!

As we were there in September, the weather had turned a bit wet and cold, which ordinarily isn't an issue for us. However, as the underfloor heating was disconnected on the lower levels, it was quite hard to get warm. Coupled with the dampness, due to rain and the location (being so close to the brook), there's a constant smell of damp / mould. Also, the bed wasn't comfortable unfortunately. But we are used to a full memory foam on a solid wooden base at home, so probably just spoilt!

Fantastically laid out. Would definitely go back given any chance! Plenty of room. Very deceiving from the front on arrival. Beautifully upheld and very clean.

Nothing at all!

The top floor is magnificent; nice big room, beautiful outlook, fabulous design, well-equipped kitchen and huge TV! Nice big bath downstairs with plenty of hot water. Our dog really enjoyed her stay too!

The bedrooms are on the small side, I think one didn’t have a window (we didn’t use that one so I may be mistaken) but comfortable. We were fine but bath / shower and stairs would be difficult for people with mobility issues. There isn’t a garden as such so dog toileting was a short trip down the lane on a lead, the lower steps were too steep for her so we couldn’t take her out through that way.

Fantastic location and beautiful house.

The location was beautifully situated in a semi-rural location, surrounded by a beautiful forest with easy access to the nearby town and shops.

The whole property is beautifully decorated and cosy. Very clever design and great for a couple of small group of friends. We took our medium sized dog and she was fine here, We enjoyed looking out of the huge windows and watching the birds. It's quiet considering it was a weekend and main road, this was a Win! Kelly left some cereals and juice, with milk and tea/coffee, which we definitely used 😊

If we had to find any fault, it would be that the property seemed a little damp and the sofa bed downstairs was bending in the middle, but was definitely ok for one person to sleep in.
