School House Cottage B&B and tea garden

Nice room, good bathroom. Tea, coffee and biscuits. Excellent breakfast with a good choice. Friendly and helpful host. Walking distance to the centre of Hawkshead.

Breakfast was very good. Location was great and the owner was very nice, despite shortcomings

Dinner was pretty awful, my soup was bland and the consistency of wet cement and served in a cold bowl resulting in tepid soup. My steak and ale pie was tasteless and I could not eat the chips, which were obviously frozen. My wife could not eat her pork. They were supposed to have been pro medallions but were loin steaks, which had not been seared but cooked directly with the vegetables, which were also overcooked. The room was in need of some TLC and the central heating went off when we went out for a walk for an hour, resulting in returning to a cold room. It was switched back on again, but the thermostat had tripped. The Bathroom had only hardboard on the floor and the radiator was rusty and had not been touched in a long time. The mirror was at a 45 degree angle so could not see face when washing to shaving. The panelling around the shower was loose and consequently water ingress resulted in some damp. Definitely would not return, in fact cut short our visit by a day as the thought of another night was unacceptable.

Great location, great welcome with tea and cakes. Great traditional B & B! Very friendly hosts! Free parking. Offered half board.

Beautiful location. Fantastic hosts. Lovely breakfast. And a huge comfy bed. It was perfect.

Amazing stay made to feel welcome by both Steve and Sharon . Breakfast excellent quality and nothing was to much trouble.

The stay wasn't long enough

Brilliant location. Just at the edge of hawkshead. Lovely village very friendly staff in the pubs and shops. Lots of diferent walks to do. Food ar the b+b was excellent and room spotless and comfortable. We were made very welcome.

Cracking breakfast and lovely and clean . Our host penny was first class really friendly and went out of her way for us

Home from home,beautiful location,lovely hosts,room cosy+bed so comfy,actually didn't want to get out of it+weather had a contribution to that,but typical for bank holiday.had a really nice stay regardless.Breakfast was very nice indeed,compliments to the Chef
