Ushaw Historic House, Chapels & Gardens

The location was perfect for access to Durham and Beamish Museum. The B and B provision was good value for money with breakfast provided. A bar and cafe are on site and discount given for a good choice of meals in the nearby pub. There was artwork, antiquities and a wedding dress exhibition to see. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The gardens and woodland walks are stunning. We couldn’t stay long enough to see everything so would like to visit again. A really great experience.

Fantastic estate, with loads of history and character. Spacious king bedrooms.

Mattresses were a bit too soft. Hit water flow in West wing showers were very slow. Got a transfer to the East wing. Showers were great there.

Staying in a room that is part of a historic building was wonderful. We were able to tour the house for free as part of our overnight stay. The gardens were in full bloom and so pretty.

There was nothing I didn’t like, nothing to complain about.

Very friendly staff and nice, comfortable rooms. The bar and complimentary access to the chapels and exhibits were a wonderful bonus. The main chapel was one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. The historical setting combined with comfortable accommodation was lovely. The breakfast was also really nice and had great options considering it was continental.

Only negative was that there was no television in the rooms, which really wasn’t that big of a deal for us.

The buildings and grounds are wonderful.

The house, chapels and gardens were stunning we did the guided tour which was very enjoyable. All the staff were really friendly and helpful.

Only blinds in the bedroom so woke up really early because of the light.
