Moonfleet Manor Hotel

This was a great stop right on the South West Coast Path. We walked to the hotel from Abbotsbury which was an easy 5.5 miles. We had a warm welcome although disappointed that on arrival there were cookies for children, treats for dogs but the sweets for the adults paying the bill were chargeable! Our room was pleasant with a balcony and nice view over the fleet. We were pleased with the lovely tea/coffee tray which was much appreciated after our walk. The room was very clean and the Elemis bathroom products fabulous. We enjoyed a lovely meal in the evening - very well cooked and tasty - slightly overpriced but as we had paid such a great price for our overnight stay we didn't mind too much. Breakfast the following morning was exceptional 10/10. We enjoyed the swim and sauna after our walk. Thank you for a lovely stay.

There was a musty, stale smell in the reception area on arrival. Walls are quite thin and chat could be heard from neighbouring guests (thankfully it was only chat!). The pool and sauna area was lovely but quite gloomy. I am glad I had paid such a good price as I would not have been happy paying a high price point with the amount of dogs in residence. Whilst I appreciate this hotel welcomes dogs, I personally find it off putting to know dogs had stayed in our room - I would have preferred a completely 'dog-free' room option. After our stay we made an onward walk to Weymouth where our car was and then drove back to the hotel to collect our bags - this driveway is very pot-holed. I am giving my stay a 7 purely based on the dogs, not everyone loves dogs.

Staff were very helpful and polite, rooms were clean and bed was very comfy. Lovely views and surroundings of location. There is plenty of car parking available.

Had breakfast at 9am. The hot breakfast buffet was cold on the first morning. Burners on all food items were switched off. Nobody appeared to be managing/monitoring the area. Some hot foods were not replenished until asked.as was the same with the cold buffet. On the first morning, the yoghurt had run out completely (none in the building). Evening dinner could have been more creative for a hotel. It is very much like Whetherspoons, which is fine, but personally, when staying at a hotel, I would prefer going up a notch or two

Dog friendly, great room. Staff very helpful. Wellies and dog towels in entrance porch if you needed them so very thoughtful. Also provided dog bed and treats!

Dog not allowed in main restaurant but tables set out in lounge area which was fine. Great as by open fires in the evening but sometimes difficult to find restaurant staff but it was out of season.

The staff were amazing nothing was too much trouble and they made it extra special for my fiances 40th birthday.

The road leading to the hotel was quite bad with large pot holes

Even though we were only there for one night we didn't feel like we were any less important than those staying for longer. Our room was lovely, a really good mix of an old building with new mod cons. The food was very nice and out 13-month old was very well catered for!

Some of the facilities over in the play barn seemed a little bit dated/tired
