"I loved this property. I hope they find a way to bring it back to what it should be"

9.0

The property is struggling. They're finding upkeep difficult. Staying here is an adventure, and requires patience and compassion. And food, be sure to bring food. But the history, and the passion are palpable. The people caring for it love it. The Opera House tour is essential, do not miss it

The kitchen facilities for guests could be upgraded a little bit without much expense

"We enjoyed our stay at this historic site on the eastern edge of Death Valley."

8.0

Historic hotel in remote location, staff were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The tour of the opera house was very interesting. Also, the communal refrigerator/freezer, microwave, toaster and ice machine were appreciated.

Aging plumbing and property could use some renovation.

Amargosa opera house & hotel is a charming, 100+ year old hotel, with tons of history. This was my second time staying here and anytime I visit Death Valley, it’s the perfect place to post before adventures. It’s close enough to the park and a few miles from Nevada. If you’re looking for fancy, don’t go here. My wife and I prefer hotels with charm over glitz and the Amargosa is truly one of my favorite places. We took the opera house tour this time, which was super cool and informative. Such a rich and interesting history at the Amargosa. Will be back.

Location was great

Smelly, dirty, moldy, leaky roof/ceilings, damaged walls and corners, sewer gases bubbling out of bathroom toilet.
