"Perfect location, so close to LHR but also in beautiful countryside"

10.0

I stayed with my son and all the staff were so friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful time. My son said it was the nicest hotel he has stayed in because the staff were all so nice and they made us feel like family! We loved the outdoor heated pool and hot tub!

"Very surprised at the low standards and wouldn't recommend"

Half drunk bottle of water in the room and an open bottle of milk for the tea. The floor was seriously marked as were the lower walls

"A little taste of Great Fosters."

8.0

Charming setting, well maintained grounds, close to Heathrow and Royal Holloway University (where my son will soon be enrolled). Access to nearby golf courses. Good casual restaurant that exceeded expectations.

Would prefer firmer mattress.

"It was lovely but would have been so much better with the pool being useable."

7.0

Beautiful building, beautiful grounds. Room good size and dog very looked after. Mostly very nice and helpful staff, and best Hugo spritz I’ve ever had!

Pool was too hot to swim in which was such a disappointment as it was a lovely bh weekend and I had booked stay so I could use the pool. Food and drink at cocktail bar took forever to arrive and it wasn’t busy. Was met on arrival with a ‘you haven’t told us you were bringing your dog, we called you’ when I had not only replied to the message on booking.com to confirm I was, I also called back when I saw a missed call and confirmed again that I was. Not a 5 * way to treat a customer.

"Perfect rural escape and spa not far from London"

10.0

I absolutely loved this hotel. I was completely amazed by it’s beauty, the gardens, the maze, the pond it is just so English Countryside romantic. I came alone for a little solo retreat and I couldn’t have chosen a better spot. I’m from London and just wanted somewhere not too far, but for it to feel like I have escaped the city. And that’s exactly what I got. There are a few restaurants on the premises, I didn’t dine in the Michelin star one, as it was a bit of a stretch for a solo money wise. I had dinner at the Grill, I got the duck and thought it was a delicious and interesting plate. I also had fish and chips for lunch on the terrace which was great, and a club sandwhich on the last day which I found a bit dry and not easy to eat as it was built on layers of sourdough. But the food was overall really good. The pool area I used a lot, I had come to relax for the bank holiday weekend. The weather was extremely warm and the pool was heated at around 30 degrees which really didn’t make sense (sustainability and enjoyment wise) so not sure why it hadn’d been switched off. The pool is quite large and surrounded by deck chairs which are quite budget and worn down, so I suggest that this is upgraded for a proper 5* experience. Another area of improvement I reccommend is quicker drink/food service. It took a very long time for the drinks to arrive every day I was at the pool. I even saw people cancel them once they have arrived because by the time they did arrive, they had to leave. I think a better system/more staff need to be resourced so this can run smoothly. Also, I think letting the public use the pool area isn’t a great decision for a 5* hotel. As it was the bank holiday the pool area was completely taken over by non-hotel guests. This definitely takes away the exclusive feel and is a big part of why guests pay 5* rates to stay there. The room (I got an upgrade which I’m very thankful for) was lovely, spacious and I was overall very satisfied with it.
