Our stay was wonderful!! The family that hosted us are wonderful, lovely people with big hearts, the place is ideally located, in beautiful surroundings. We felt like in paradise! The food was very good and very much! The room was spacious and clean, the mattress comfortable. The views were amazing :) Ferdinand knows very good coral reefs on Raja Ampat and took us to beautiful places - the snorkeling was amazing! Thank you for all the kindness from your side and see you soon!

"A secluded slice of paradise"

10.0

The location is incredible, there’s 2 villages either side a short walk away so you can get snacks and drinks if you want, but it’s so quiet at night, the only thing you can hear is the birds and the fish jumping out the water. The food was amazing, the portions were very generous, they make an effort to notice what your favourite things are and then make them again for you. The family are so sweet and really make an effort to help you with anything you ask.

Nothing, would definitely stay again.

"Peaceful and very enjoyable stay at a unique location"

10.0

We really loved staying at Nyanse homestay! Food is plentiful (3 main meals + snack time at 4:30pm), you will definitely not starve here and everything is delicious. Their overwater bungalows, located inside Gam’s particular mangroves, are spacious, clean, comfortable and equipped with hammocks to enjoy the best sunset. Bathroom and shower are shared but still very good. We highly recommend doing the tours they offer. Ferdinand, the homestay’s owner, knows the best snorkeling places and will be your guide in the water. We really enjoyed snorkeling with him and all the underwater life he showed us. Even one night he took a torch to explore the nightlife around the mangroves, we found so many creatures! You can also do snorkel at night if you are adventurous enough. The homestay is placed between to villages that you can visit to see the local life, I even played football with the kids and had so much fun. It is also possible to go see the Red Birds of Paradise, it’s less than a 30min walk that you do with a guide in the morning before sunrise. Just know that these birds are more active during a certain time of the year. Alvaro, Ferdinand’s son, can help at times with communication as he is the one that speaks fairly good English. All in all, staying at Nyanse was a beautiful local experience that we highly recommend. Thanks so much for such a amazing time!

We had a wonderful stay at Nyanse Homestay! The food is delicious, plentiful, and very varied. There are also many vegetarian options. The family is very friendly, and there are excursions available. We booked a jungle tour and snorkeling with manta rays, and we were not disappointed. We also saw blacktip reef sharks near the homestay. The restrooms are functional but clean, and there was always plenty of hand soap and toilet paper. If the village generator fails, Nyanse Homestay can produce electricity with its own generator, so you have light and can charge your phone overnight. We recommend Nyanse Homestay 100% and would return anytime.

Nothing. Just note that the boat trip from Waisai is relatively expensive due to high fuel costs. But that‘s the case everywhere in Raja Ampat.

Great location above the water! We even saw bioluminescence at night. Always fish and other sea creatures to admire! Can walk to see the Red bird of paradise (bit slippery be careful) Good food, kind hosts!

The fan can be a bit small for very humid nights. Advise: When it rains, it can be very hard to dry clothing. Something to dry clothes with would make it perfect!

"Great Stay & Nice Food"

8.0

I had a bungalow on the end which had a nice breeze, the food was good flavoursum with three meals plus snacks/cake in the afternoon. There are two villages with very little, small shop selling a few basic things, the people were all nice.

Not that I didn’t like it but be advised the transfer from the ferry ports cost 1.5 million each way which worked out more that the homestay, the reef directly in front has had a lot of damage so snorkelling is good but not amazing for Raja Ampat compared to other locations

"Not so interesting"

Bungalow was ok, not enough space. Bathroom very basic , but ok. We had rats around, and saw some near the kitchen. Very strong current at coming high tide, which was not possible to swim or snorkel. Lots of damaged corals for whatever reason.

"Very good"

8.0

The location is great. Amazing sunsets, good and abundant food. Very friendly family. Big Bungalow, and fantastic snorkeling too. It is absolutely mandatory to pay a visit to the school (Papua Child Aid), which is 2 minutes walking from the homestay !

I you are planning on taking a tour, double check about the price before leaving. The prices advertised on the kitchen area are for 2 people only, not for the boat, as usually happens in other homestays. Also, bear in mind that some photos show only two bungalows, but at the time of my visit there were 4 of them, and a 5th almost finished.

"The Real Raja Amapt!! The best English speaking, super friendly family homestay out there!!"

10.0

Unforgettable week with the Nyanse Homestay family. You MUST add this place into your Raja Ampat itinerary!!! This week will stay with me for the rest of my life, a fantastic insight into West Papuan life and so many amazing people and experiences!!! Book now!! The people - I'm sure you'll read of lots of good homestays in the area but Nyanse's USP is just how magnificent the family unit is. You come as a stranger and leave as part of the family and as a solo traveller that really meant a lot!! Alvaro is 14yrs old and cutting his teeth as the manager for all communications and trips with the mentorship of his family and school, he's super charismatic, knowledge and speaks excellent English(not something all homestays can offer),, Ferdinand his Dad also speaks good English and is a master snorkel guide, captain of the boat and local wildlife, he's super friendly always there to help and a great mentor to all the kids at the homestay. Lencel is a top notch chef with variety in all 4 of the daily meals and the rest of the crew of kids and adults bring so much fun and joy to the stay, they loved playing with go-pros, drones, cameras, music...anything really and the party night we had sits right at the top of my memories from what is now over 100 days of traveling The setting - based in Besir, it's about an hour boat ride from Waisai and close to a few of the top attractions like Gam Bay and Aborek. You get crystal clear blue water with reefs either side for the Jetty to explore and no currents whilst I was there, loads of fish can be seen from the Jetty itself. There are two nearby villages with shops for any basic supplies and cold drinks incl beer as well as a church and school which can be visited.

-My bugnalow was brand new so still missing a few comforts the original ones have, I think that'll be fixed this week though - Prices for the big name places like Pianemo and Wayag were too much for a solo traveller, if you're in a group or can rally other guests you'll be fine

"Great stay for Gam"

8.0

Great location and bungalows are perfectly located to watch the sunset. Nice outdoor area for 2 people, hammock and sun bed invite to do nothing besides reading and relaxing all day. The family and food was great. Can only recommend! Bed was comfy and you still got signal if you wish to be on your phone. Trips available if you wish to Note: squat toilet. But sanitary area was always clean, even got a hose for the shower as an update for the usual bucket shower!
