Very convenient place

I absolutely loved its proximity to transportation, stores for light shopping, Ms. Loretta's, and the French Quarters. Ended up walking once, due to wrong bus time. Turns out it was a 20 min walk.

I agree with the others about the door. It definitely was scary, but I rigged it to at least notify me if someone was trying to enter. There was nothing to do about it when I left. Also, the neighborhood was cute with nice people. There were a few sketchy ones loitering when I arrived. Though loud at times, they weren't there long. After a few days, I felt fine.

I DON’T LIKE THE DOOR SET UP! The bar door -you can reach in & unlock -plus the wood door is Very thin!

When I read the reviews I was a little worried about the area. When you arrive at the place, the neighborhood looks a bit sketchy, but in the end it's completely fine. We met the neighbors and they were all nice and pleasant. You are within walking distance of the downtown, which is a big plus of this accommodation and you can park for free on the street in front of the property. The kitchen has basic equipment so you can cook for yourself. The room is large, air conditioning is available everywhere.

Upon arrival, there was a strong smell of cigarettes. Fortunately, the AC aired it out, but it was an unpleasant welcome. The equipment is older, which wouldn't have mattered at all, but the shower curtain was moldy, one of the bed slats kept falling off, and the main door (as others have written) could be locked, but if someone wanted to they could easily break the door open even through the extra bars.
