A bit of a walk from the town and beach

Location was fantastic. Welcome info, chocs and fizz were nice. Garden was a lovely relaxing and quiet spot. Charmouth is a lovely area as is Lyme Regis and this was a perfect base from which to explore. We had an issue with the oven and Esther was on the phone immediately to sort it for us which we really appreciated.

Personal items made it feel like the owner may return at any moment. There were a couple of maintenance issues that should be addressed as well, handle on the fridge cupboard and one of the steps to the upper bunk was broken and dangerous for sleepy children. Whilst generally clean, it could do with a deep clean as there were signs it hadn't had this for a while. There were cobwebs in numerous places, thick layers of accumulated dust in the extractor fan in the bathroom etc. The dog bed was left out in the kitchen with various used dog toys and a bowl of water. We didn't have a dog with us so it felt untidy and gives a bad first impression.

Lovely place, comfy beds. Lots to do in area. Child friendly pub with good food at bottom of the hill. Great enclosed garden perfect for the kids (2+5) to run around in. 5 yr old loved the bunk beds, her little dream come true, also loved the penguins and ducks. Not really suited for a grabby switch obsessed 2 yr old. Toddlers are terrors and we did replace the damaged electrics. Esther was a great host and understanding. Parking on the street was ok and didn't have to go far to get a space. Water was hot when needed which is always good, downstairs shower room was welcome. welcome chocs and prosecco and crisps were a nice touch. Really recommend this one.

Perfect for older children but not for toddlers, it's a lovely house but too much lovely stuff for them to try and get their grubby grabby little mits on. Take drinking water as the water was a bit limescaly for us.

It saddens me to write this review. We were unable to stay at the cottage due to issues we found on ‘checking in’. The owner acknowledged the issues and we hope they are rectified for future guests. We have decided not to post the photographs we have as we are assuming this will be the case.

We quickly had to find somewhere else to stay as we rendered ourselves homeless. The whole episode was very stressful and severely affected our holiday. Be aware the cottage is full of the owners ‘belongings’
