The Board Inn

The location was convenient for us. The room was big, as a motorcyclist, this was good as we had plenty of room for our luggage. It also had a separate sofa which was nice. The breakfast (in the Cockett's Hotel next door) was excellent.

Initially, we were told we did not have a booking when we arrived. I had to show the staff member my Booking.com confirmation. Even then, they needed to confirm with the owner, and we were kept waiting in the bar for 15-20 minutes before being shown to our room. We were disappointed to find out that no food was being served. Worse still, the bar closed 10-minutes after we got the keys to our room, so we could not even get a drink. This is not acceptable. We were told to go to the Crown Hotel next door, we did, but they were not serving food either and did not even sell bottle of water. All of the restaurants and cafes listed on The Board Inn Booking.com page were closed. Finally, with 15 minutes to spare, we found a pub that was still serving food. The bathroom was tiny and the water pressure from the electric shower was poor. This was, no doubt, due to the Saniflow unit tucked behind the toilet bowl. When the shower or a tap was switch on, or the toilet flush, the unit made an awful racket. Being on a main road, it was very noisy. Especially as we had to leave the windows open because the room was not air conditioned. We had to content with noisy drinkers from the neighbouring pubs, traffic until around midnight. And then we were woken early by marker traders setting up stalls immediately outside out bedroom window. And being market day on the Tuesday meant that the free parking advertised on the Board Inn Booking.com page was not available. As a motorcyclist, having parking outside my accommodation is important. Being told to "try and get it round the side" was not very helpful. Luckily, I manage to find somewhere where my bike was not causing an obstruction and I was able to secure it.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Location is in the centre of.Hawes. Excellent cooked breakfast.

Location was ideal and room large and nice breakfast.

No soap in bathroom to even wash our hands & soap dispenser in shower empty. Noisy toilet, we assume it was a masserator. Smell of soot in bedroom. Noisy outside at 2am in morning (Tuesdsay night stay). Pub closed on Tuesday's. Used toilet in pub, opened door and nearly fell down four stairs, no notice on door.
