The Old Coop Barn

The place oozes rustic charm and given the size of property was amazingly well appointed. The quirky upcycling throughout was fascinating and provided lots of chuckles on the first night as we discovered wine racks made of garden rakes and washing basket lampshades. The kitchen has everything and cookware and crockery is in good condition, which is rare in holiday rentals. We even used the cafetiere one morning, which was nice to have. The roll top bath was also lovely for a long soak..

We probably didn't think about how steep the stairs are in converted barns when we booked, rookie error on our part as my husband has some mobility issues at present so we did jiggle the sleeping arrangements and sent the athletic teenager to the upstairs bedroom, my husband and I taking the two singles downstairs. It would have been handy to have a slightly bigger TV also as we had one poor weather day so we did watch a bit more TV than we usually do when away, though appreciate space is limited.

The accommodation is in a lovely location, with so much to do locally that we never drove for more than 25 minutes for a day out, so it was a perfect base. The small courtyard at the back was ideal for sitting out to relax. Lucy was very friendly and attentive, and keen to make sure we were settled and had everything we needed. The property itself was very cute and quirky, with lovely little touches.

Everything was very well thought out and we honestly did not want for anything. The barn was very well presented. Lucy our host communicated with us and there was plenty of information in the property regarding locality etc with instructions for all appliances if we were unsure. We would love to return for further walking challenges as so much to do both locally as well as nearby in the Peak District.

The old Co-op barn is a great place to stay. Cosy, comfortable and with everything you could need and perfectly situated for the Dales, Matlock and lots of delightful villages. Top notch.

A perfectly equipped quant cottage in a small quiet village. The property has everything you need. The cottage was clean and comfortable.

Please note that it has a static oven which takes a bit of getting used to other than that there was nothing we disliked.
