Beautifully decorated farm cottage - so comfortable, clean and warm. Had everything we needed and more! Very helpful hosts. Perfect for our cosy winter catch up with friends.

We needed to find somewhere for a final overnight stay at the end of a two-week journey from Auckland to Dunedin, during which we'd stayed in many beautiful places and all sorts of different accommodation. Taieri Bank Cottage proved to be an absolute treat before we finally rolled on into Dunedin. A brief handwritten history to this highly individual property was provided in the well-appointed, spacious and very comfortable old house, with has a thoroughly modern kitchen and good bathroom facilities. There were many charming, homely features that made the stay particularly enjoyable. We were encouraged to use the open fire, which provided welcome heat for a winter's evening. In the morning, we awoke to the first frost we'd seen on this trip, with sheep peering at us over the garden wall through the early mist before the sun broke through. The cottage is some distance from Middlemarch, the nearest town, with pleasant views across the plain to the surrounding, distant hills.
