Carder Cottage; A walker’s paradise in Longnor

Wow! Carder Cottage was home from home, a real hidden gem. From stepping in the front door, the cottage was perfect for our stay, four adults and two dogs. We had a welcome pack for both ourselves and the dogs, which was a lovely touch. The cottage was lovely and fresh. Upstairs 3 spacious bedrooms, one with bunk beds and two double rooms and a large bathroom. The beds were very comfortable and I haven't slept so well in a long time, especially the first evening, sometimes when you stay somewhere, it takes a day or two too settle. The dogs were not allowed upstairs and there was a couple of stair gates which helped with that. The owners had also left some dog towels and blankets for us to use, along with a large throw for the sofas, we do bring our own also. We had an enclosed back garden which was perfect. The village itself was lovely, local shops, cafes, chippy and pub. We ate in the first night, the kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed, oven, microwave, dishwasher etc. We used the chippy and pub the other evenings. The food from both was excellent. The pub was very welcoming and allowed pets also. We where central to Buxton, Bakewell and we went to Chatsworth House, which in Autumn was just very picturesque. Jools and Mark were great hosts and highly recommend staying at Carder Cottage.

We were expecting sofa beds from the listing description. But they were just regular sofas - not sofa beds- so just be aware of that.

Great Location very high spec cottage loved the eggs, butter, biscuits and bottle of wine provided. Was great to have two cafés shop and pub with good pub grub or within a couple of minutes walk. Lovely walks with the dog right from the doorstep as well as the opportunity to drive for more dramatic hikes.

There’s a slight delay getting in as the cleaners were weren’t finished, but no big deal. Dogs are allowed at the property, and it’s very well set up for them however dogs are not allowed upstairs, I think it would be good to let people know this advance.

It was immaculately clean and tidy. It was cosy and the beds were comfy. The kitchen was stocked with everything you could need to cook etc and the welcome pack was wonderful.
