CALovely in terms of location right in the heart of it (which is partly it's downside). You have a great view of the lake from a couple of windows and offers all you need to set up a base camp. Owner super quick to respond to any question.
The only thing I will say is that this property is located above the only road through varenna via the main square and bar Sunday morning you will most likely get woken up at 7am or earlier to lorries, motorbikes or cars going past if it's hot as you will have the windows open. But otherwise can't fault it.

Property was advertised on booking.com with air-conditioning. There was no air-conditioning only a pedestal fan which made sleeping on the hot nights very uncomfortable.. Shower was very small.
GBExcellent location, a few minutes from everything we needed and only about a 10 minute walk from the station. It was basic, but perfect for us and had a stunning view of the lake. Excellent value for money.
As others have mentioned, no tea towels and the kitchen is fairly basic (although we pretty much ate out). The floor was also quite dirty from looking at our bare feet - other than this, it was very clean.

Noisy by road but settled at night. Needed some more essential kitchen stuff eg dishcloth, tea towel and drying rack.

USPerfect location in Varenna. On the main main road and and an easy walk to the ferry or train station, without any of the typical stairs in Varenna. Communication with the host was good. The apartment was actually nicer than it appeared in the photos. It was great for a short stay.
Unable to close shutters since I was too short to reach the latch and had to sleep with bright light shining into bedroom through the sheer curtains. It was also impossible to hang clothes as the closet bar was far out of reach for most adults. There was a pole to to assist with the hangars - but who wants to do this? The only outlet that fit was hairdryer was over the washing machine - thankfully you could also see in the closet mirror. For us the beds were not comfortable and nor were the flat pillows. We were surprised that there were no dish towels to use in the kitchen. I suppose we could have dried our dishes with a bath towel.
