Queens Head Inn, Tirril

Great location for us - very quiet but easily accessible. Very sorry to learn the landlord & his wife are leaving with no immediate replacement likely to step in. It would be very sad to see this lovely pub with rooms close after over 300 years in business

Staff were courteous and friendly, and the breakfast and evening meal were very good quality. Safe, secure parking. Lovely view of sheep and hills from our room! It was nice to sit outside in the evening sunshine, on the quiet rear decking on first night and in front of the pub with views of the hills on our second.

My mistake, but the bed we booked was a standard double, and we have a supering at home ... so our two nights were very cramped and uncomfortable! These days, I think that more hotels should try to provide king size as standard, especially given the cost per night, which we found to be (typical of the Lakes) very high. No doubt because of the age of the building, the plumbing relies on pumps - it's perfectly efficient, but can be a bit disruptive, especially at night.

Friendly welcome traditional pub with wonderful cosy atmosphere lovely open fire . Quirkey room . Lovely bath and shower room very comfortable beds .. spotless bedding and towels . Good breakfast choice ,filter coffee .

Great location to break the journey up from Scotland to Somerset, not far off the M6, good size car park, very comfy room with tea/coffee facilities, shower great, excellent evening meal and breakfast, would definitely stay again.

breakfast , was excellent, plenty of choice. the room was cosy and comfy with every thing we needed from towels to the drinks facilities

being charged twice for the stay ie booking.com charged, then hotel charged on arrival, but hotel rectified the problem, very under staffed, but didn't affect our stay
