Location on the island

I would not recommend this place. First of all there is no reception, the is someone to give you the keys and leaves again. He does not speak English, so everything is with google translate. We had the first night no electricity, and there was no one to go to there is someone who you can WhatsApp but he is in Canada or India. And without electricity it is also not possible to text him. Besides that, it says there is a guard but I have not seen anyone at the property. We slept on the whole property alone with one other girl. Which was creepy. Especially because there was a tarantula in our bathroom and Scorpio’s on the paths. I have a feeling the previous reviews were based on the previous owner. This new owner is not giving not at all the same experience as mentioned.

Being close to nature is nice - we saw Owl Butterflies and fireflies. The master bed was comfortable and mosquito nets were effective. The price was very low - this probably should have been my sign. The compost toilet didn't smell so bad when rice husks were added.

Too "rustic" for me, and poorly equipped despite the low price. Despite being a family hut (beds booked for 4), only 2 dining chairs, 2 hammocks etc. 3 plastic cups provided, 2 broken, no plates or cutlery. No recycling or waste bins (and a sniffy note there will be no waste collection- what are menstruating women to do?) Walls were stained, small table was dirty. On arrival, we were greeted by a host who did not explain how to add rice husks to the toilet (would have been v helpful to know; we discovered them only later) and told us we would see young guys around the property at night with motorbikes for security. Slightly disconcerting. The nature outside the property came right in to join us inside, including a frog in the bathroom and a spider the size of and adult hand by the bed. Outdoor space seems it may have been loved once but has a sort of abandoned feel now. I was glad to leave.

Good location and a unique place to stay - an easy walk down into Santa Cruz and not busy with other guests. The owner was helpful in providing transport across the island and hooking us up with local guides etc. The lodges are spacious and the outside area with chairs and hammock was nice to relax in after a day of hiking! We didn't eat breakfast at the location because we were always up and out too early so found local places to eat instead.

The lodges can get quite warm and we found a couple of scorpions and other insects in our room, so if you don't mind a bit of eco living then it's a great place to stay!

Perfect location - very central and easy to get to everything with a scooter. Miguel is wonderful and can set you up with anything you need - including transport on the mainland. The cabin is tucked away and very private (it's a bit of a walk but we had a scooter so we were fine). The bathrooms are kept very clean. The whole place is a natural oasis - wildlife everywhere: monkeys, goats, butterflies, birds. It was such a unique experience and we were sad to leave!

The netting on our cabin windows needed some maintenance because there were some creepy crawlies that made their way into our room. All part of the eco-lodge experience I guess!

Definitely isolated if youre looking for peace and quiet.

It is about 500 meters outside of santa cruz, it a 200 meter walk uphill from the road to the cabin then another 200 meters to the reception. No access to a refridgerator

Really clean, private, far from neighbors, good breakfast, Awesome staff. Would recommand! Really quiet and beautiful land.
