"Stopped previously in the 'Cottages', only booked again due to location to Donington Park Circuit"

4.0

Location of the hotel

The Cottage Room was very dated (needs a refresh), the toilet handle was hanging off, the bath panel was cracked, the shower and hair wash bottles are solid so you have to hold them upside down waiting for the contents to eventually dribble out.

"Shame it’s gone downhill was a beautiful place to stay"

7.0

Have stayed there multiple times over years before when attending events locally but the first time time year close to where we needed to be. The river next to the property is lovely

Arrived before kitchen closing time - turned away for food (kitchen already closed) Had to go out and find food after a long drive. Wedding appeared to be on. Very obtuse receptionist. Had already paid for our stay but wanted credit card in case we damaged anything! Executive room! 1 plug to charge anything very tired room furniture very scruffy paintwork scuffed. Widows draughty 1 spoon with cups (perhaps they wanted to charge me for a missing spoon!) May seem petty but when one drinks tea and the other coffee not the best. A small packed of biscuits to share! Bed not comfortable woke up with sore back pillows lumpy. Not a great experience on this occasion! Will look elsewhere when we are back in the area. Very disappointing as we have had some lovely stays at this property.

"On the whole good improvements and a bit of love needed"

7.0

Location was great, food was great quality and reasonably priced. Friendly waiting staff and dog friendly in parts.

The rooms are tired. The cottage room number 4 was almost impossible to sit on the loo as it was so close to the sink you couldn’t get your legs in. The outside of the room was only half decorated with poly filler and panel boards still exposed. The first room the hotel put our parents in in the main building overlooked a roof with enormous and noisy air con units and extractor pipes . Breakfast was expensive at £15pp there was no option to pay less and eat less which was disappointing
