Jacobite Lodge by The House of Danu

The hot tub wasn't available for my stay which was a big disappointment as I only got told the day before and was one of the main factors for choosing this place.

Beautiful lodge with a stunning view. It’s very well equipped and also not far from local amenities.

Beautiful surroundings, gorgeous, clean house with everything we needed, e.g, equipped kitchen. Especially loved the cows and ducks!

View was amazing. Hot tub excellent. Cleanliness of kitchen and rooms excellent.

Bins outside were overflowing. We were promised a gas barbecue but there wasn’t one.

The location of the property was amazing. Felt so private and relaxing.

The location of the toilets was a bit strange. There were 4 bedrooms and 1 very strange adaptation for an extra bed. 3 of the bedrooms were very comfortable and big. The 4th bedroom had 2 bunked beds, the top one is definitely not for an adult as it was a very short and small bed. Quite difficult to climb up to as well. In my opinion it should be more honest and say the bunked beds bedroom is not for adults, but for children would be comfortable. The 5th “bedroom” is a mezzanine. I have nothing against mezzanines when they are well thought and planned, but this one just felt to be put in there randomly. There’s a set of stairs coming up from the kitchen and with a very low ceiling there’s just a tiny space with a double bed. The problem here is that the balcony part is a glass, and you can see the bed straight from the kitchen table. I suppose for a family with young kids that should not be a problem, but as this was advertised for 10 people, we were a group of friends (10 adults) and everyone needed a bit of privacy to sleep and get changed at least. The toilets were also weirdly designed in the house, the bedroom downstairs had an on suite but it had 2 doors so it was also opened from the corridor as the main toilet of the house. This would also have to be used by whoever is in the mezzanine. Then upstairs there is one bathroom in the main room which is completely private and comfortable. And then another on suite in the bedroom with 2 single beds. So the people sleeping in the bunked beds had to either go into one of the rooms to use their on suite or downstairs to use the door from the corridor into the downstairs toilet. Again, for a family I don’t think this would be a problem, but for a group of friends or 10 adults, this was not particularly comfortable. It would have been easier to not have so many on suites and have a normally accessible toilet from the corridor for everyone to share.

Spacious, beautiful location, quiet, lovely style and was well equipped as self catering

could do with a little bit of updating i.e. paintwork, outside, curtains not fully attached

It wasn’t clear from the pictures or description that one of the ‘rooms’ was a mezzanine above the kitchen
