"Very cozy"

9.0

This is a beautiful place to stay in Collingbourne while visiting the local area. Everything was clean and tidy and well maintained.

There wasn’t an option to control the temperature in this accommodation, it was pre-set by the host who said it was set to be comfortable and although fine downstairs heat rises and the upstairs was actually too hot to comfortably sleep in. We always prefer to sleep without heating on overnight, heating is impossible to get right fit everyone so being able to set your own heating would be preferred.

This was our second stay at The Shack. Once again, it was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. Lovely to have milk, juice, biscuits etc provided on arrival.

"Beautifully decorated, quaint thatched cottage"

10.0

If you're looking for somewhere to escape to, relax and forget about the stresses of the world , this is it. A real bolthole. Every attention to detail has been thought of; even having cotton buds, cotton wool balls, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. The Shack has been sympathetically decorated, keeping it's original charm with it's oak beams and wooden windows. This has been matched beautifully with pops of colour with contemporary design and plants. The bookshelf is the star of the show in the bedroom. It is lined with books and games for all ages; it has quirky trinkets, and is very stylish. The bed is very comfortable and slept all night! Everything is spotlessly clean and well managed. Thank you, Lee, for an amazing stay and for being such a caring, hospitable host. We will be coming back again next time we visit family.

"The Shack was a nice place to return to after walking along the canal each day. Lee was a friendly and attentive host. T"

It was very well-equipped - sharp knives, cafetière, microwave etc - so a good place to cook and eat. We really appreciated the treats too! Shower excellent and plenty of hot water.

We found the lack of headroom in the bedroom problematic and only managed to connect to the TV once (lack of wifi but not a huge problem.

"Lovely for a short stay in winter, longer in summer or if wish peace and quiet."

8.0

It was smaller than we expected from the photographs and the weather was pretty miserable so this was slightly challenging. Cannot fault the host, Lee. We had some problems but he dealt with them quickly and successfully. The lack of clothes washing facilities was the only drama and this was compounded due to the weather. But very much a first world problem!
