"Lovely island views"

9.0

The property was in an ideal location for access to Bigbury beach with great views across to Burgh Island from the garden. It was very spacious and comfortable, and the electric fire made it cosy in the evening. Ian was a very helpful host. It's one of the few properties in Bigbury on Sea that we've been able to book for a short stay that is reasonably priced & we'd definitely come back.

"Fabulous location, helpful host, clean and pleasant accommodation"

9.0

Loved the location so close to bigbury-on-sea beach, allowing for incredible beach walks when it wasn't busy with visitors... So lovely to be so close to the beach. Great host - helpful and quick to respond. Kitchen had pretty much everything you need and house was clean and airy. Some beds super comfy, others slightly less so but overall we had a fabulous stay and would recommend if you want to spend a lot of time at the beach. Host kindly recommended some excellent restaurants too which were fabulous.

Bed in back bedroom was very creaky/felt a bit old. Double bed in room with single bed was also dipping in the middle and might need a new mattress. The other double bed however was incredibly comfortable! Whilst the info booklet says the waste is sorted at the landfill site we saw other houses with a range of recycling bins and felt bad putting all our rubbish into the landfill waste bin. The recycling bin men came on Thursday morning whilst the landfill bin men came on Friday morning - though I did check the council website which indicated that Thursday is collection day generally so this might need updating in the booklet as well as rubbish sorting info I think. We ate at home for the most part so a bigger kitchen bin would have been helpful but that's me being super picky!

"Lovely 😻"

6.0

The property had a really nice feel to it, everything was low maintenance and flowed lovely, the location was perfect, a fabulous view out to Burgh island and perfect for a surfer/water sport van

The outside space was not as advertised in booking.com, the garden off the bedroom end of the property was unusable, especially the covered area, you couldn’t sit on the seats as they were so dirty, the garden has not been maintained for some time, all the outside space needs to be cleaned and painted, the inside also needs some tlc.

"A view to die for ;)"

10.0

I must admit I kind of fell in love! We opened the door to a well sized open plan kitchen-dining-living area, that led out to a fenced courtyard with plenty of seating and a balcony area giving fantastic views of Burgh Island and its iconic hotel (once popular with Agatha Christie & Noel Coward). Everything was very clean and tidy and of a nice quality but retained a homely vibe that meant I didn't constantly worry every time the dog moved. The little touches The rooms had big soft beds, which my teen & young adult really appreciated. My husband and I had a lovely little ensuite shower room which also had a door leading out to a second private courtyard and balcony. The parking area is shared with two properties in front of you (but no one else was there until our last night). Due to some mobility issues my husband drove to the beach carpark which is otherwise a very short walk away. The nearest shop is Holywell Stores, a well stocked Premier, in St Ann's Chapel approx. a 10 minute drive away, just in case you scoff your Tesco's delivery snacks too quickly. Venus Cafe in the beach carpark is open until 8pm (though we only had breakfast and lunch from there which was very nice). The first night we got fish & chips from Challaborough Bay after a short coastal walk to Fryer Tucks, also very tasty. All in all it reminded me of beach holidays growing up in New Zealand, just with added history. I hope to return soon.

"Wonderful seaside stay"

10.0

Wonderful location and delightful interior. There is a lovely living space with views of the sea and two well thought out terraces outside. We had a couple of unexpected issues arise during our stay and the owner was excellent in helping to resolve these.

"Perfect property for a peaceful seaside escape"

10.0

Fairwinds is a spacious, well-equipped property in a fantastic location, offering a peaceful and relaxing retreat. Our stay was made even better by Ian, who provided great communication and thoughtful treats on arrival. The property is perfect for dog owners, with plenty of scenic walks leading to stunning beaches and Burgh Island just a short distance away. One thing to note—there's no phone signal upon entering the village, so be sure to screenshot the key code and address in advance. However, once at the property, the WiFi is excellent, and the signal returns near the beaches. Overall, we had a brilliant stay and would highly recommend Fairwinds to anyone looking for a traditional beach holiday in a beautiful setting!
