The Cloves Farm Shepherd’s Hut

The location is fantastic for west Dartmoor National Park, Lydford Gorge National Trust and the Cornish coast. It was really quiet and I did 2 days of great walking before the weather changed. Corrine met me when I arrived (there's a lockbox too for keys) and she is a very welcoming host. She had turned the heating on for me and there were lots of thoughtful touches inside such as milk and juice in the fridge and an alcoholic drink for him and her. There were warm robes to wear out of the shower too. The hut was clean and if the weather had been warmer, sitting outside and relaxing would have been possible. There's also a vineyard 8 min drive away which I discovered by accident so there's lots to see in the area.

There was nothing I didn't like but I hadn't appreciated that Lydford village really only has a farm shop to buy produce from so it is worthwhile bringing some small bits of food with you if you arrive late, especially when dark. But if you want seclusion this is good.

The location & views were spectacular. Everything we might need was in the Hut. Beautifully thought out & designed. Corrine was so welcoming. When I was stung by a wasp she brought me antihistamines- so kind. Lovely little touches in the Hut, milk, treats. Little pots filled with tea, coffee etc. Products in the bathroom. Immaculately clean.BBQ & fire pit created tranquil nights listening to the silence & stargazing.

That we didn’t stay longer!

We had a fantastic stay. We loved all the little touches like the robes, toiletries etc, and the outdoor space. The bathroom was fantastic. The location being so close to Lydford Gorge was great. Superb value for money.

Quite and peaceful location made for very relaxing weekend

Nothing really

Larger than many other shepherds huts. The onsite owners were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Lots of nice touches by the owners to the property to set it apart from less well thought out huts. Very good value for money.
