The accommodation was great and the breakfast very nice.

Dinner on the first night was frankly rather tardy in being served. This was unusual to be fair as I've dined here frequently and pretty much always had great service. In any case, this didn't ruin my family members' stay at the hotel.

The room was a delight and the morning staff catered to our every need with a smile.

Not that we didn’t like anything and it was our fault that we hadn’t booked a table but when we arrived at 8:30pm the kitchen had just shut everything down. We missed out on an evening meal in the hotel but were guided to the local kebab shop which had a good variety and we enjoyed a very tasty fish and chips 😃

I was very warmly welcomed by Jamie at the reception desk, which was a really good start to my visit after a long drive. I really liked the decor of the hotel and its historic character, and both my evening meal and my breakfast were very good. In particular I was impressed by the breakfast choices, and liked being able to pour my own coffee when I was ready and top it up regularly. It was good to have old-fashioned paper menus in my room, and the welcome letter to guests was excellent, with lots of information.

My room was incredibly hot even though the radiator was off, and the window open - and there was a very noisy extractor fan right outside which meant I had to close the double glazing panels in order to sleep - even then it was still quite loud.

The staff were fantastic throughout our stay — warm, welcoming and always happy to help. Our room was beautifully decorated and the bed was especially comfortable and we had an excellent night’s sleep. Everything was clean and fresh. The food was amazing as well — really tasty and well presented with a great selection. Deserts were exceptional (this is coming from someone who looks at the desserts before choosing the main). The hotel is set in a beautiful location and we will definitely rebook in the summer.
