Flor's House

The best thing about this accommodation is the host, Flor, who goes out of her way to make her guests comfortable in her home. The room was clean and spacious, very quiet at night, great shower, bed was super comfy, good WiFi and TV, and excellent air conditioning.

Flor, the host, is extremely friendly and helpful, often going above and beyond to ensure guests have an enjoyable stay. The rooms are simple but cozy, giving you a peaceful space to relax after a day of exploring.

Nothing comes to mind.

Flor and her family are nice people, caring about her guests. Some days there were little surprises by bringing fresh fruits and serving water at the beginning of the stay. We got good recommendations for restaurants and visits.

It is an experience to stay there when you can’t speak any Spanish as then only communicating via translating app is possible.

Bed was comfy, AC and WiFi was working well.

You have absolutely no privacy. You are living in the middle of a family with very weak hygienical standards. They stay in the living room all day doing nothing just hanging around and looking at every more you make. The place is kinda falling apart.

The room is a separate part of a residential house with it's own entrance and bathroom. It's not a hostel and some taxis do not know where it is, even when they have the address on Google Maps. The A/C worked great and you will need it in Feb/March as the humidity and daily downpours make everything sticky. Flor was very welcoming and offered a free breakfast the first morning. The room was clean.

The location is a 15 min walk from the port and just about everything else. It's uphill to the room, so I would not book it if you are bringing luggage and prefer to walk. I had a backpack but the daily rain and humidity meant that I was walking back and forth a lot. There was a microwave and mini fridge but no kettle or hotplate.

Flor was a very nice lady. She shared fresh mangos from her tree and made me a delicious breakfast on a few occasions. She answered questions very quickly and it was a delight to stay there.

The walk to the main area was downhill but returning was tiring during the heat. The good thing is taxis are only a few dollars and are readily available.

Staying at Flor’s flat was an authentic experience. Flor was incredibly hospitable and made us feel right at home. We had meaningful discussions and even enjoyed a meal she cooked for us. If you’re looking for a genuine and warm experience, Flor’s place is perfect.

Flor is an exceptional host, we felt really welcome during our entire stay! From fresh mangos to homemade breakfast, we couldn’t have wished for more! There are authentic restaurants and supermarkets nearby. The bed is really comfortable. Can highly recommend :)

It’s a little out of town, but taxi is really cheap (2$) or you could walk for 10 minutes. Also the apartment is a little thin-walled, but that has been a common experience on our Latin America travels.

Flor was an amazing host offering us fresh fruit and local recommendations. We loved the room with lots of storage and hangers, comfortable beds, and AC. This is a great choice for anyone looking to get away from the main tourist area and support local.

Be aware that it’s a 10 min walk from downtown up a small hill. We knew that and liked the extra walk, so it was no issue for us.
