Flor's House

Flor was very nice and accommodating. She has a mango tree outside the house and would offer me complimentary fruit. Her driver recommendation was great and gave me the best rates on the island. The room was spacious with clean facilities and AC which is rare on the Galapagos for this price. The view of the water was also nice, will definitely be back.

If you want an authentic experience and a change to your usual hotel room, I can recommend Flor's place to you: Flor and her family are there to help you, share mangos, traditional food, help with your laundry, getting up early to prepare a tea for you before sunrise before your morning ferry.

The hospitality of Flor and her family clearly exceeds the normal hospitality on booking.com. We felt like part of the family and were even allowed to participate in the New Year's Eve dinner and traditions. Flor gave us mangoes from the garden and surprised us with breakfast on the last morning. The accommodation is in a very quiet location just outside the center, but is within 10 minutes walking distance. The room is incredibly large, has lots of windows and was also cleaned during our stay. We shared the kitchen with Flor and had great conversations. Thanks for everything Flor.

It was a totally authentic experience staying in the flat just below the main family house. We learnt loads about life for those who live on the galapagos, something most travellers never appreciate

The streets are notorious for dogs in all neighbourhoods so pack your earplugs for a good night sleep.

The host was very nice and helpful. The room was clean and had everything needed.

The surroundings of the house looked messy (construction material, waste, pet shelter, ...). Everything on the outside looked chaotic. We had two cockroaches in the room - but this is probably not uncommon in any of the low budget accommodations on Galapagos.

The Staff was very nice and welcoming.

The room smelled like mothballs. When we arrived we were shown the wrong room. (not an issue) Then we went to the correct room. The first room (the one with one bed) did not have an odor however our room (the one with two beds) had an odor. We were only staying for a few days and didn't spend much time in the room so we didn't bring this matter up to the host.
