Cosy cottage with a canal view

The location was amazing, stunning views. The cottage was so cosy and perfect for 2 people.

The only one tiny thing is the bed. The panel was missing and the mattress was hard.

Location of this place was perfect for getting into Hebden Bridge - just under a mile away which did not take us long to walk and a nice walk along the canal. Lovely place for a couple. We had a weekend of walking planned so was perfectly located.

Location was good for exploring the area and there was a small Asda and Sainsbury's just a short walk away. Lovely location by the canal. Communication with the owner was good to sort a couple of issues. Basic but adequate accomodation and good value for money.

On arrival, we weren't able to park outside the property due to another car being there, so had to park on the main road and carry bags back to the property. Parking is tight- would be difficult with a big car. Heating wasn't working but after a text conversation with the owner we were able to get enough heat out of the radiators. Oven wasn't working properly and wouldn't get to the temperature needed but fortunately we were able to use the microwave. Oven trays rusty and need replacing but otherwise the kitchen was well-equipped for a short stay. Mattress wasn't great so we rolled to the middle but did sleep reasonably well despite this. Quilt needs replacing- was lumpy and torn. Bathroom needs updating- toilet seat loose, flush handle loose and shower hose needs replacing. Bedroom was ok but sides of bed were missing which didn't look good.

The bed was horrendous- poor quality springy z bed type mattress. Insufficient hot water to fill the bath. Shower was hit n miss re hot water Location cited as Hebden but was in fact just outside in Mytholmroyd. Wasn't an issue for us but could be for someone else. Misleading. Parking a premium!!

The cottage was very comfortable and surprisingly warm for an old stone building. The location was very good, only a short walk or drive in to Hebden Bridge and for visiting Howarth, Heptonstall and Hardcastle Craggs. We also had a good walk along the canal towpath to Sowerby Bridge marina. The cottage was well equipped, with tea coffee and sugar provided. WiFi signal is good

Thete was nothing we didn't like but would point the following out for other guests to be aware of. Parking is on a first come first served basis with about 8 cottages sharing a Come to the horseshoe when you've finished your detention. Xcourtyard that holds about 5 cars. Other parking is available outside on the main road or a two minute walk away on a quiet parallel road. As it is an old building there were some water stains and a bit of peeling paper on the bedroom ceiling. This wasn't a major problem and the hosts have it in hand to rectify this. There is no terrestrial TV, but good WiFi and a large TV available for streaming channels provided you have your login details
