"All in all a great weekend away. Would go again"

Great stay at this village pub, east to get to from London. Nice large room with comfy bed and pillows. Staff all really helpful and friendly. We had a delicious roast on the Sunday and would highly recommend a visit Looked like a great pub garden for the summer.

"A triumph in style over substance"

4.0

Bed was comfortable, good shower

No breakfast, basic evening menu, burgers and cod and chips..VERY narrow and steep stairs up to rooms, no help offered to get suitcases upstairs although there were people there at the time. Stairs were really dirty. Kettle in room had to be on the floor as the lead wasn't long enough. No-one told us that we would be spending the night alone in the pub, there was no communication. We spent two nights there, the second night Sunday, everything was locked up, no-one there, we had to figure out which door to use, not the one we came in previously that was locked. Really poor customer service. Not what you want.

"Pretty, characterful, charming venue...."

9.0

I booked the hotel for a colleague traveling for work and she found the hotel and room very charming. There was a warm welcome, helpful, hoists, open fire, and country feel. Highly recommended.

Nothing not to like, just some notes. Blewbury is very rural (and very scenic), so be prepared with your travelling arrangements to and from the Red Lion Evening food isn't served every night of the week, although there is another pub in very short walking distance. They don't do breakfast, so you'll need to manage this yourself or travel out. All of this is clear when you do the booking, so not a criticism at all, just for information.

"A pity because the pub is nice but the rooms need upgrading which I gather is in hand."

5.0

The traditional pub atmosphere.

The bathroom needed renovating. No wardrobe. Noisy fan outside bedroom window. No breakfast available.

"A bit of a lottery...passable if you get the right room..."

2.0

Badger was OK and could pass as a deluxe double..albeit without a wardrobe.

The room I had (Mole) was nothing like the room my friend had (Badger). I booked 2 deluxe doubles and got 1 plus a very poor after thought of a room, certainly not what I was expecting. It was generally a disgrace with a pokey bathroom, a TV somehow secured to the sloping roof of the old building, a curtained off alcove with what looked like personal effects, a dirty looking sofa/third bed, no espresso machine which the other room had, nowhere to hang your clothes, let alone a coat hanger, and certainly not worth £95 per night without breakfast!!! Furthermore, there was no one around in the morning to complain to when we checked out at 10:30...
