Seraph House, York

Fantastic location near the train station.

Comfort: Some of the beds are not comfortable to sleep on. The futon bed in the lounge is extremely hard (luckily we had an allen key in the car as we had to tighten up the bolts because it wobbled when we first pulled it out) and the two single beds upstairs creak with the slightest movement making it impossible to sleep well. Cleanliness: Overall the house was clean however the shower curtain needs washing (it’s suctioned to the bath to keep it in place, but that means the bottom has orange mold).

Good location, 20-25 mins walk from centre, quiet street; minimalist decor; good bathroom; plenty of USB sockets.

Lack of kitchen utensils & crockery; one sofa (futon) in lounge is not enough if there's more than two guests; dining room furniture uncomfortable, dated & shabby; had to put 2nd bedroom mattress on floor as bed frame too creaky to sleep on; worst of all, when searching for any garden furniture (there is none!), the shed is piled high with stinking black bin waste bags (rat infestation waiting to happen?).

There was plenty of room for my friend and I. Our host kindly turned on the heating as it got a little cold on our first night.

The couch was very low to the ground and uncomfortable. The single beds were more like trundle beds also. Not very comfortable for an adult.

Host allowed us to drop off our luggage an hour before check-in. Permit parking included. Very nice bath which allowed you to recline comfortably.

No comfortable chairs to relax in. Futon in sitting room was very uncomfortable to sit on. Too spartan and echoey. Could have done with some soft furnishings. Toilet seat missing a washer so kept on slipping off. One third of a toilet roll for 4 people for 2 nights?? Soiled carpet in the dining room. Second bedroom beds were very low for our elderly father and very creaky. The bare essentials (coffee, tea and sugar) in the kitchen would have been welcoming

House was clean and tidy.

The house should really be advertised for 4 people to say as the sofa bed was rock hard. It was like sleeping on a table with a thin mattress.

Lovely place to stay. Near the centre, so close to everything you need.

Host was exceptional with regard to communication and allowed us to check in an hour early which we appreciated so much because we'd arrived very early to York. House was nice and clean. Location to the train station as absolutely amazing, only a few minutes walk away and very manageable walk to York Town Centre. House is located in a lovely quiet area.

I specified we were a group of 5 in the booking but there was no bedding provided for the sofa bed when we searched the house for an extra duvet and pillows. Beds in small room were low and noisy. There was no toilet paper provided so had to go out and buy it ourselves after we arrived. The shower was quite awkward to use and get in and out of. The living room can only accommodate 2 people so we could only congregate in the dining room but the chairs were uncomfortable to sit on for long periods, they'd benefit from seat cushions and another tv in that area would have been great.

Beautiful flat with great facilities and wonderfully clean. Very spacious, easy check in and communication from hosts, wouldn’t hesitate to return.
