"Great location, lovely rooms, excellent staff!"

8.0

Beautiful location. Fantastic spa. On main bus route so perfect for getting about if you don’t have a car.

Lots of renovations taking place so looked a little tatty in parts.

Clean modern and the spa is brilliant

The only gripe is the £12 parking if you don’t book directly with them

"Great spa and staff - hidden payments and tired hotel."

5.0

I recently stayed at Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa and would rate the experience overall 3/5. There are some genuinely standout positives. The staff were absolutely faultless throughout our stay — attentive, friendly, and professional, easily 10/10. Dining was another highlight; both the W Restaurant and Blue Smoke were beautiful, and the food and atmosphere couldn’t be faulted. The spa was also exceptional — genuinely the best we’ve experienced in the UK. We paid for the 3-hour thermal journey, which was fantastic and well worth it. However, there were several downsides that impacted our overall experience. One of the biggest frustrations was being charged £12 per night for parking simply because we booked through Booking.com rather than directly with the hotel. Given that we stayed for three nights, dined at both restaurants, and used the spa and bar facilities, this felt unnecessarily unfair — especially considering the hotel’s location on a main road with no realistic alternative parking options. The rooms themselves were clean but felt quite dated and tired. Additionally, the lock on both the main hotel room door and the bathroom door didn’t work properly, which was disappointing at this price point. There were also a number of smaller extra charges that added up — for example, £5 for flip flops to use in the spa. While the spa facilities are excellent, access to the pool is restricted to certain times unless you pay extra, which was surprising. We’ve never stayed in a hotel where pool access isn’t complimentary throughout the day. Breakfast in bed was another slight letdown — we ordered it twice, and both times items were missing from the order. Overall, while there are some fantastic aspects — particularly the staff, dining, and spa — the additional charges and room issues take away from the experience. I would definitely return to use the spa again, but I wouldn’t choose to stay at the
