Loved everything - only thing I could pick up on is urine stains at the back of the toilet seat from previous guests

The outdoor spa is the jewel in the crown of this property. It’s magnificent.

It was all just a bit ruthless. Bill under the door before you awoke in the morning, room charges automatically deducted from credit card (even though we hadn’t checked out or had some queries on the bill addressed - some of which were incorrect and had to be corrected.)Phantom dinner reservations which didn’t materialise. It was all just a bit meh on the experience front, but they were so very efficient at the charging part.

We stayed overnight at the Low Wood recently as a part of a spa package deal. The spa is absolutely fantastic. It has been expanded since we last visited and is so luxurious and relaxing. Lots of lovely touches that really added to the ambiance of the place. We also had a massage which was absolutely lovely, the therapist was brilliant and knowledgable. The hotel itself is quite tired. Considering the way it is marketed, the hallways were very scruffy (tatty marks everywhere) and the bedroom also had some scuffs and dents which I wouldn’t have expected with this price tag. We also dined at the Blue Smoke restaurant. The staff were fantastic, but it did feel as though it was trying to be something it isn’t. For £28, I would expect a meal to come with a small salad garnish of some kind. I also would have thought things like sauce would be served in a dish, rather than a plastic bottle. It felt as though the restaurant was trying to be upmarket, but it actually felt very casual and did not reflect the price tag. The food was tasty, but I wouldn’t be rushing back based on what we paid and the presentation. One final point is that some guests came down to breakfast dripping wet in robes. Again, in a hotel that sells itself on luxury and standards, eating breakfast across from someone who is barefoot and leaving a trail of water behind was not a good impression. We felt perhaps staff should have asked these people to come to breakfast more suitably dressed. All in all, we will certainly be back for the spa. The hotel was nice, but not worth the price tag at this moment in time.

Excellent Spa and treatment. Beautiful setting, and despite the poor weather on the day, we were able to appreciate all facilities indoors and outdoors. I would have expected inclusive slippers with robes for the cost of the package as with other Spa locations but the little extra treats and drinks were a lovely touch. The alternative afternoon tea was amazing ! Two identical treatments, delivered by two different therapists - customers are going to compare so I would ensure each customer receives the same massage.

We had appalling treatment when we stayed here in March 2026 - we stayed on a girls weekend with no robes provided in one of the rooms, rooms were not cleaned until late in the evening and even when we called for robes and went to reception they gave us the run around. After spending the whole day at the hotel for breakfast, followed by a spa day we had a late dinner at the blue smoke restaurant on the premises. The service was awful with dishes arriving late and at different times. To top the experience off we all got food poisoning from the steak at the restaurant for which the hotel refuses to take responsibility and actually charged us for. The following morning after no sleep and multiple bouts of vomiting and stomach issues, I asked for the food to be taken off the bill and for check out times to be extended. At this point they once again tried to charge me for late check out. Once I dragged myself to reception to speak to them, they finally agreed yet despite this we had 3 incidents of cleaners entering our rooms whilst we were attempting to rest. On top of this - the reception staff then pretended we had no charges so we went on our way only to find out we had been charged later on credit cards. The hotel has refused to refund our money for the meal which is all we asked for, for the sake of £200 they have decided to compound our bad experience with terrible customer service. Having spent over £1000 between us on what was meant to be a lovely weekend this is massively disappointing and I would not recommend anyone go to this establishment. A false investigation said nobody else has complained of illness therefore they are not at fault - I think the steak i threw up tells a different story. Not to mention clearly their hygiene standards deteriorated by the time we had our dinner. Do not go.

My daughter and I really enjoyed our overnight stay here. On arrival we were upgraded to a lovely lake view room which had a bathroom with a large bath also overlooking the lake. We didn't use the spa but had a swim in the indoor pool. The only negative was that if you weren't using the spa, you could only use the pool at set times. The meal in the restaurant that evening was excellent and the breakfast buffet was extensive. Highly recommended.

My son and daughter-in-law chose the Low Wood Bay for their wedding day. I have driven passed the resort many times , but never stopped. What a lovely venue for a wedding; the staff were so helpful, the food was excellent, and the facilities exceptional. What fantastic weekend we had. A big shout-out for all the staff, however the reception and wedding organisers were brilliant.
