Airport Black Sea Hotel & Restaurant

The small hotel in the middle of nowhere was fine in itself for the money paid. The room was relatively clean, the bed was OK, with newish linens, plenty of hot water, I was a short-stay, arrived at 17.00 and departed at 23.00. This was because I needed a hotel near Airport for a 12 hour layover. BUT........

The place is a nightmare to get to. It should not be calling itself an "Airport" hotel. It's no where near the Airport although they make it look like it is on the map. I took a taxi there, no other option which cost around USD 25.... despite the desk at the airport saying it would cost a maximum $USD 15. Manageable. The nightmare was needing to get a taxi back at 23.00 for my 02.00 flight. It The Hotel owner said he could book a taxi for me for 23.00. Which he did and it turned up on time thank goodness. I was quoted a fare of USD 28'ish. I asked why so high when coming to the hotel. It is because of the remote location, the Taxi's have to make a special trip from the airport to the hotel and the Guest must pay for both directions. So when he arrived there was already a fee of $USD 26 on the meter. By the time we got to Airport it was almost USD $70. So here I was, thinking I would get a cheap hotel near the IST Airport for my 6 hour stay and the rides to and from the hotel were more than triple what I paid for the room with the location being so not near the Airport it was almost laughable.

It is very convenient to stay overnight during the flight overlay. The view of the Black Sea is amazing.

Very nice views and the host was great and so welcoming. He really looked after us. The food was good as well.

No iron

A sea view from the room balcony is just incredibly calming and awesome. The receptionist helped with booking a taxi for airport for an ok price. 24/7 reception. Late check-out. For a long wait between flights its perfect. The room is big enough and the bed is comfortable, not too soft as it often is in hotels of this type.

As it is close to the airport there is a lot of noise from the traffic. Rather thin walls between rooms, so if you don't sleep well, bring earplugs. Not a big problem.
