Wonderful place to stay, lovely, lovely staff - nothing was too much! Gorgeous pub, restaurant and food and we loved our garden room! They made our visit and our mum's birthday a real treat and celebration. Just delightful! Highly recommend.

"Lots of positives but a a little more attention to detail required to make this room value for money"

8.0

Very friendly and helpful staff. Very clean and stylish. Lovely large, comfortable bed. Good to have fridge and microwave. Excellent shower and large fluffy towels. Excellent breakfast.

The room was very small. Ensuite had no radiator and was cold, although bedroom was lovely and warm. Would have liked a shelf in shower room for own toiletries. Soap or hand wash would have been appreciated. View from the window was of a row of bins which wasn’t good.

They didn't clean the room, they didn't make the bed and there was no soap in the bathroom. Also, only one towel between two...

The location. Its difficult to find positives hence the following sentences. The staff smiled when trying to fix/apologise. The pub had space between the tables.

Before writing the terrible review I did ask to speak to the owner, she wasn't available. I asked for her email address, or for her to contact me as I didn't want to write the problems on this site. No contact made, hence this review. On checking in we were taken to our room, ground floor, in the open Courtyard, only to find it had not been made up. The second room we were shown to was on the first floor, accessed by a metal outside open staircase. Walking up/down in the rain, with heels was dangerous, as the gaps are large enough for the heel to get caught! The room was made up, however 1 of the 4 pillowcases was a different colour, the towelling bath mat was on the floor and 'wet' in places, there was only 1 bath towel, for a double occupancy room and no hand towels. The ceiling light had 3 bulbs out of approx 20 working. The 2 side chairs and curtains were made with good quality fabric. Breakfast - we were asked what time we wanted breakfast, earliest being 8.30. We booked 8.30 as we needed to get on the road. On arrival we were greeted with, the lady from the kitchen explaining she had to do everything as on her own, and she should only be in the kitchen. We sympathised. However the hot drinks couldn't be served because the coffee machine hadn't been switched on so we had to wait, I said if she could boil the kettle we wouldn't mind an instant coffee, if that would help, no kettle. The menu had fresh fruit, on ordering we then noticed the lady give some money to the cleaner and yes, they went out to buy fruit! the bowl arrived - one apple, one orange shared between two bowls topped with a few green/black grapes. The cereal option was, childrens cereals, no muesli or granola. The drinks came after 25 minutes. The cooked breakfast was quickly consumed, as we were late, and we left the restaurant after 1hr and 15 minutes. We were the only 2 in for breakfast!
