The Boathouse, Kingsbridge - Romantic detached annexe with parking & estuary walk to great pub

Compact, but had everything we needed. Ideal for a couple for a few days

A difficult place to park!

The location of the property was excellent to explore the area such as Salcombe, Slapton sands and Dartmouth also within walking distance to Kingsbridge town centre with good restaurants and bars.

Beautiful, clean, well equipped, cosy.

The property was very clean and well decorated. It was well equipped and comfortable. It was in a nice location with easy access to where we wanted to go.

There were a lot of steps up to the property which I don't think was mentioned in the description (If so I missed it). They weren't really a problem for us.

This beautifully appointed annexe was very comfortable to stay in. It's been refurbished to a very high standard and it's clear that the host has tried (and in my opinion succeeded) to think of everything one could want/need during the stay. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering with plenty of dishes, cutlery and glass ware as well as cooking pans/utensils/etc. The bedroom has a really comfortable bed (which I think is king size) as well as wardrobe facilities and, joy of joy, a plug socket underneath the wall mounted mirror so that you can plug in the hairdryer (supplied) and dry your hair without having to bring an extension cable (it's very rare to find this as most hosts/BnBs don't think of it in my experience!). Sleeping was great because the bedroom is at the back of the property so, very quiet. The bathroom is small but really well thought out with a heated, lit wall mirror above the sink and storage under the sink. The showerhead has 5 settings to choose from and the water pressure is good. We were also able to adjust the heating to our needs so the temperature was always warm when we were in - we were there in November. If you are there in the summer, there is a cute little patio area to the front of the property which is nice and secluded and has BBQ facilities. The whole property has been decorated and furnished with comfort and convenience in mind - there's even a tide clock and a tides wall chart so that you always know when the tide is in or out!

Although walking into town is doable, it's not ideal as some stretches of the road don't have a pavement and, although there isn't too much traffic, what there is is rather fast so care must be taken when walking - we walked into town and back a number of times but I wouldn't like to do that in the dark. Not suitable for people who cannot manage stairs as there are a number of steps from the parking area up to the property.

Fabulous place to stay for two people with plenty of places to visit and with a lovely pub/restaurant called the Crab shell Inn 10 mins walk down the road. There are also plenty of supermarkets around to get provisions for your stay. The hosts were very easy to correspond with and the booking process was easy. The apartment is a charming, clean, comfortable place to be. Everything is catered for! There is a lovely view of the esturary through the trees and a great little terrace with table, chairs and a barbeque. Excellent comfy kingsize bed too!
