Aqua Of The Seas Cruise Halong by AHG

Friendly welcome at the port, swift check in and then a 40 minute boat journey to where the cruise was moored. First impressions ok, it’s a lovely traditional solid wood vessel with gorgeous staircases and empty bookcases. The rooms/cabins were beautiful, smelled clean & fresh, comfy bed, stunning bathroom. We had a nice balcony but unfortunately the tender boat was moored alongside directly below our room which spoiled the view somewhat. The pool area was really disappointing, a large jacuzzi, pretty much a box covered in astro turf, along with four sun loungers and another box which housed a toilet. The provided pool towels were stained and in poor condition, even cement on one! Happy hour began with really loud banging music and the chance to take advantage of “buy two cocktails get one free” which if you’re travelling as a couple which most people were is incredibly annoying, “ buy one get one free” would be nicer, otherwise it just screams ~ let’s make more money! The top deck was quieter but really lacking in furniture, the chairs they did have didn’t have any seat pads or cushions so were really uncomfortable. Also the lovely swinging seat chairs in the photos had been removed. The evening meal was of a good standard but no drinks were included. The tannoy announcements into the cabins were incredibly loud and quite frequent. Brunch again was good but again no drinks were included, not even a juice dispenser. Water was available from a container on the bar but we were told by the waitress this was tap water. (The bottled water in the rooms smelled and tasted strange too, so thinking this is probably tap water too?) I have no idea how this company arrived at 5* it’s no way a five star cruise, probably more like a 3* In summary, a beautiful boat, just needs a small makeover and some TLC, a bit of attention to detail would help enormously. Friendly staff, good food, super lovely cabins, nice scenery.

The rooms are lovely, clean and modern

The commons areas are old, the ‘pool deck’ area has a toilet that is unusable and you have to trek down to level 1 to use bathroom.

What a fabulous time we had. The staff were incredibly accommodating. The bathtub was one of the many highlights for me. Bathing and cruising on Halong Bay was amazing. Food was so good.

Not long enough!

Great rooms, very comfortable bedding, friendly staff and grateful we did the 3 day to get the extra day exploring the islands and seeing nicer locations which were much cleaner to swim and kayak in then Day 1 option Best views for a sunset cocktail 🍹

While most of the food was pretty good the plated breakfast for the 3 day option could be improved. More information could also be shared about the Day 2 excursion when you do the 3 day cruise.

Nice cruise

My daughter and I got sick after the cruise, we think that one of the good might have not been fresh. It actually ruined our next two days stay in Hanoi.
