Honey Horsefield Grade ll Cottage

The gorgeous smell throughout the cottage. Comfy bed, excellent linen and pillows. Beautifully laundered and ironed. Cleanliness of the property in particular kitchen , utensils crockery etc.

Taps leaking water from both the sink and bath tap. More than a drip from bath tap. Bathroom could do with new taps and a general tidy up. For us the bathroom did not match the standard of the rest of the property. A second sofa in the lounge would be more comfy to sit on. Maybe switched the day bed to the room over spiral staircase? Just a suggestion. The aluminium trim around the floor tiles by the fabulous fireplace is missing bits and rather sharp if you catch your feet on it.

Had to ring the host when I arrived to get the key code to the key safe, and there was no answer. However, it was sent straight away on 'Whatsapp', after me calling him and leaving a message on his answer phone.

NO WARNING OF LOW BEAMS,A LOT OF STEPS SOME EXTREME, THE COOKER WAS IN A TERRIBLE STATE, LOOKING FOR AN IRON, UNABLE TO FIND ONE. CONTACTED THE OWNER, SHE HAD US Looking ALL OVER THE HOUSE. AND FINISHED WITH A COMMENT from owner, "its been taken then I'm afraid," very unhelpful. The shower only half worked.

Last minute booking, wasn’t sure what to expect, however it was fantastic, peaceful and quiet, would stay again no questions asked.

The property was pretty, and well equipped. It was cleaned on arrival.

There were no towels for us and we were asked to dry the ones that had been crammed into the washer, which was ineffective after several tries. We put them on the line but we're unable to have a bath or shower, which dripped constantly. There was an invasion of harvest flies coming through gaps in the window frames, which we couldn't get rid of. We could not eat there and left a day early. The owner has not been supportive of our complaint. We had to move to a different property. I would not describe this as a luxury property.

Broken beds Slept on the floor Not enough towels No toiletries We booked to stay on Saturday 12th July for 1 night as we were going to a wedding reception just needed somewhere to get ready and sleep before the long journey home, there was 5 of us. It cost us £179.80. We arrived at 4.30pm had to be at the wedding reception for 6.30pm that was 15 min drive away. We did not have a great experience, it is the worst property we have stayed in with bookings.com. On the way driving to the property they sent a message before we arrived saying the following: Towels are in the dryer, our last guest decided to nick all our supplies. So we have had to wash and dry. They may need another cycle. You can check in anytime. No one wants to arrive having to deal with towels so you can have a shower. We did not touch the machine. My husband and I had to share a towel as there was not enough towels for 5 of us (luckily my daughter and her partner showered before we arrived) they left us with 2 towels the rest was in the machine. No soap or toiletries. After arriving we checked around the property. It is beautifully decorated with lovely scenery and was quiet. My daughter boyfriend sat on the sofa bed and it gave way (he is not even overweight !) We then removed the mattress and fixed it by putting the slats back that were not in correctly. We thought we should get the sofa bed made up. My husband layed on it and went straight through it again. The slats did not fit properly and kept coming loose. I then checked the other part of the sofa bed and the slats were broken (have pictures) we hadn’t even touched or laid on this. It was like something from Goldilocks and the 3 bears we couldn’t believe what was going on. We contacted the property owner straight away he said was not aware of it being broken (so obviously not had clean sheets on it recently as they would have noticed it.) we did.

On arrival the pin code didn't work so I phoned the owner who gave me another code which also didn't work. He insisted it was the right one and then realised it wasn't. He was unfriendly. The house is very quaint but wouldn't suit anyone 6ft+ due to the very low beams. The day bed sofa in the living room collapsed when I sat on it. On a very hot weekend two fans were provided but only one plug! No bedside tables. No welcome pack. Not a lot of love shown for the place or care for guests. Just a money earner for the owner.
