Cambridge Stays Riverside Apart Hotel with 1BR Flats at the City Centre-Parking

Big room and not too far from nice parts of Cambridge.

I have stayed with this company several times, and the experience was great. This visit was a nightmare, starting 48 hours before arrival. Note that I sent the complaint below to booking-dot-com and they never responded. I sent it again, and I am still waiting for some response. The problem during the visit was two-fold. 1. The internet did not work. I had to unplug the router, wait a minute, plug it back in. This would give me about 30 minutes over very slow internet before plugging in again. 2. The single bed was smaller than the standard U.S. variety, but good enough. The problem was the sheets. They were small, with no fitted sheet, so every night I would find have my body on the mattress without a cover. This is a first for me. Also a first, going back less than two days before I left the U.S. for Cambridge. Below is a message I almost sent to the property this morning, and then realized they could make my life unpleasant: I have never had a change in contract 48 hours before arrival. Yes, a change in contract. I had prepaid, and checked the rules carefully before paying the non-refundable payment. Your company broke every rule: Contacted me by my personal email and text (not going through booking.com) Changing the contract, demanding a security deposit Demanding that I go to a third party company to upload my ID! This is absolutely unacceptable. If I had been told in advance I would have to go through these steps I would NOT have stayed at your place.

The property was in a good location, about 15 minutes walk from the City centre. The owner gave clear instructions on how to get to and access the property. The apartment was a good size with a well equipped kitchen and a small living/dining area. The TV had Netflix and possibly other channels but we couldn’t work out how to get normal TV. Wasn’t an issue though as we were out until late evening. The bathroom had a fairly big shower cubicle with a decent shower. Toiletries were provided in refillable bottles. The bedroom had a large wardrobe with 2 single beds which were very comfy. The parking space was outside the block and we had no problem getting a space.

There were a lot of little things overlooked here. There was no visitor folder with instructions on how to use the appliances, heating, a list of emergency telephone numbers, taxi firms etc. On arrival there wasn’t any milk for a cup of tea. Just a few milk portions would have been nice just to make an initial cuppa. There was nowhere to put toiletries in the shower, a small basket hung on the shower unit would suffice. There was only one mirror which was a small one in the bathroom. The single beds were positioned so that you could only just get past the end of one to get to the other. The bed linen was poor quality. One thin pillow each and no mattress protector, just a flat sheet over the mattress. I’m a jiffler in bed so the sheet came off every night and the mattress was exposed. We had no trouble parking but there are 11 apartments and possibly only 7/8 spaces. There is off road parking but it was full the whole time we were there.

Excellent location with 1 parking space to access the city centre. Well equipped and comfortable. It is a small property and would suit 2 people, but there is a sofa bed if needed.

Spotless and comfortable. Only 15 min walk from City centre but really quiet. Great for a few nights stay. Nice to have kitchen to make breakfast in rather than being stuck in a hotel. Fairly easy to access the property - just need a little patience with the key lock on stairs as can be fiddly. Nice to have two keys. Really well maintained and clean.

Good location and nice bright rooms

Well kitted out and very convenient. Disruptive guests in other properties in the block meant we did not sleep well. We may just have been unlucky but most flats in the block have key boxes so suspect always a risk.
