The cabin has everything you need and is very comfortable and private. Amazing location for stargazing on a clear night!

I wasn’t aware the pub wasn’t open for the month. I was receiving messages on booking.com leading up to my trip about visiting. When I arrived to the property, it was shut and I wasn’t sure how to access the cabin. Once I managed to get into the cabin, the wifi was down and I was unable to get any phone signal. This was a little bit scary as a female solo traveller! I was aware on the website it said the internet was temperamental but it didn’t work at all for both days. I also noticed on the website (after my trip) that it does say the pub is closed so maybe change the automated emails for now to avoid disappointment.

"Great for the price"

Quiet, remote area. Nice big window in the bedroom, good for star gazing on a clear night. The cabin was clean and had all the utensils you could need to prepare food for minimal cooking. Good shower, bathroom nicely done out. The owners sent a guide with all of the info you would want to know before your trip. The heating and hot water worked well. The beds were sufficiently comfy.

It wasn't clear that there were 2 different cabins, the external picture was not of the cabin we stayed in. The guide the owners sent us stated that there would be tea, coffee and milk - there was a small amount of coffee but that's it. It also said there was a TV, which there was not, and that there was WiFi but this did not work. There's no phone signal in the area. Luckily we had downloaded a few films on Netflix before we left home. One of the rings on the hob did not work. The pub was closed for a refurb, despite the fact that we received a couple of messages asking us to visit the pub for a meal - this must be automated.

"The cabin overall was lovely and cozy. Perfect for short stays and if we knew about the pub and freezer before hand our"

5.0

The cabin was very cosy and as described. The views from the massive windows were lovely.

The freezer was completely frozen over… dripping water all over the fridge and our food. The pub was closed for renovations even though we had received messages a week before saying it would be open for food and drink so we didn’t pack enough food and with no nearby shops this was inconvenient. There was confusion with the main car park and parking as no one had let us know the car park was locked for pub renovations and there is an alternative was to get it, this was more of a misunderstanding as I do get they just forgot to message a day before but after driving 6 hours and having some pretty strict plans losing valuable daylight is not ideal, especially when this took about an hour to sort and I was struggling to get a hold of anyone. Half of the fence was completely down on our arrival , this wasn’t a big deal but just would have been nicer if it wasn’t as there was a massive bog behind it. The cabin could really use a microwave.

"Great stay, feeling relaxed after some beautiful days in this wonderful part of Cumbria"

8.0

great location if you want to go off-grid. Weather wasn't the best - so no stargazing at night, but must be fantastic, if clearer skies. Very nice lodge (we had the smaller one for two people) with incredible views from the bedroom! Felt super cosy and warm. Small bathroom and sink - but fabulous shower. Nice to have a pub onsite, too! We went cycling to Hadrian's wall (route 72) which is beautiful, but beware that quite long distances and hills need to be factored in.

very small sink in the bathroom. Kitchen could do with one decent sized pot ( we had to cook pasta for two of us in two separate pots....)

Fantastic location

There needed to be better instructions for the sofa bed. The provider is now trying to sort this
