Ocean views, indoor and outdoor brilliance!

The place had plenty of space for our group.

The place was dirty and the ceiling leaked in the kitchen and bathroom when it rained. The driveway was difficult to find even with directions. The pool was not as pictured. The side of the house and around the house was filled with clutter and “junk”. Was very unappealing for the price paid per night.

Beautiful open concept and plenty of room for everyone. The beach is right across the street and we were able catch the most beautiful sunset!

The pool was a bit murky but it did not take away from the trip at all.

Great location and big in species

The location of the house is wonderful. There's a beautiful beach about 1 block away where turtles sunning themselves are found. It's near surfing locales to visit and watch the surfers (not a place to learn how to surf). With clear skies and in spite of street lights, you can see constellations and a bit of the Milky Way! We knew about the roosters and looked forward to them. The house has double pane glass which cuts down on the chickens and highway noise. But you really want to open the doors to hear all the different birds singing in the morning!!

There were off-putting things that occurred: 1. On arrival, with a light rain that had been going on probably for at least 2 hours, on the 2nd floor was a large puddle of water from a roof leak. We dried it up with beach towels provided, placed bowls but the leak continued until we had 24 hours without rain. 2. The master bedroom has a problem with ants- on arrival there was a faint smell of insect killer and a few hundred dead ants on the pillows and comforter. We cleaned it up but over time more ants would show up both alive and dead on the bed- I suspect they are falling from the ceiling. 3. We didn't use the range because the "element on" light was on but the stove top was cold indicating a short. 4. But the worse part was when we had a power outage that went from 2:30-8:30pm due to a tree on powerlines. There wasn't a flashlight in the house and the place was pitch black. Eventually, Jeff brought us a lantern when it appeared that the power wasn't going to return in a timely fashion. Steve was emailed the above and responded #1,4 in a reasonable time. Taking a left on the highway from the driveway can be a challenge. On checkout, I emailed Steve the issues (there were other minor items) that should be remediated; preferably before the house is rented out again.

The location was great. It was plenty of space for my family of 7 comfortably. It was stocked well with everything needed. The view was great.

If I had anything negative to say and I had to think about it I would say the kitchen could use a bit more lighting but honestly it’s not a big deal. That wasn’t the only thing we said while visiting.

Loved this location, the views were better than expected & the host was super responsive!

The location of this property on the North Shore is great.

Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience. The listing says: Private. “You have the whole place to yourselves” This is not the case as the owners live on the first floor. "two generous parking spaces" is not accurate. We had a mini van and the turning around to come and go was tight b/c owners also have 2 cars in the driveway space. This property could be great. However, it needs maintenance and some professional exterminating. The beds are soggy and some of the sheets have tears/holes. Inside the house there were too many bugs (alive and dead) as well as lizards for our comfort level. Live and dead bugs in bedrooms, drawers, on walls and green lizards that run through the kitchen. I woke up with bug bites. We booked to stay for 8 nights and we vacated the property after 2 nights. The day before we left we discussed the problems with the owner (who lives on the first floor) he said if we wanted to check out he would be more than happy to refund us for the time we did not stay. Unfortunately he did not. He asked us if we would re-consider if he made us dinner and had the place sprayed for bugs (we would need to be off property for several hours while this was done). When we took him up on his offer to refund us, he said, "I can't talk right now, I'm eating lunch". We have stayed in the Hawaiian islands in November every year for 15 years and have never had an experience like this. We have never left a negative review. Decided to this time b/c we wish we would have known more before we lost a few days of our family vacation as well as thousands of dollars.

The property was perfect! House was great spacious, clean & loved private pool & yard area!

Having to leave.

Loved how open, clean, spacious, and equipped the house was. The location was perfect as it was close to excellent beaches (including Waimea Bay) and restaurants and shopping in Haleiwa. The private pool and gazebo was an additional treat where we spent time in the mornings and evenings swimming under the stars.

There was not one item that we would change regarding the property. This was simply a great property with gracious hosts. We could not have asked for a better stay.
