Cosy 3 Bedroom Beachfront Getaway in Mersea

Homely, clean, lovely outside seating area, location.

Normally I like a TV, microwave and WiFi but for a short stay was perfect

The caravan was really lovely and well presented. The host was helpful and responsive. We loved having the decking area to eat meals outside and to relax on the egg chair. Really close to the beach, shops and heated pool. Swimming passes was a lovely bonus. Living area was spacious and it was useful to have parking outside the caravan.

It would have been nice to have WiFi.

The kitchen was a huge letdown! On arrival we found sand in the sink, the fridge had clearly not been cleaned from previous visitors with ring marks, food debris etc..on shelves, the freezer top drawer had been smashed leaving sharp shards that could easily harm someone, the oven was filthy with burnt on debris all over and you could barely see through the brown of the glass door! It also had only one shelf and one tin tray which was absolutely useless when cooking for 5 people….not everyone can eat afford to eat out every day! We couldn’t understand why there was a cupboard full of ceramic bowls when there was only 4 dinner plates and no tea plates at all….baring in mind, this was a six birth caravan! It was a good job we’d brought our grandchildren’s picnic plates! The cutlery drawer was a jumble of everything and not sorted into a cutlery tray, there were bits of fluff and crumbs in there so I took out 5 knives, forks and spoons, washed them and kept them in a glass for the length of our stay. Fortunately, I’d taken my own sharp knives for food prep. There was a plug that was too small for the sink and no washing up bowl so doing dishes under a hot running tap was the only way….what a waste of water! There were also out of date sauces etc.. that had been left by previous visitors, I threw these out….not that I would have used them anyway. The beds, although comfortable had no mattress protectors and the sheets so thin, they were see through! There was no way I was going to sleep in a bed without a protector so I found some linen in a box under the bed and used a duvet cover for this purpose! Also, the duvet covers were all left undone which caused much distress to the youngest child when she became entangled in it during the night and screaming ‘ my legs are stuck, I can’t get out’!

It was very clean and next to the beach.

Underestimated the need for WiFi especially with 5 year old as there is no.television as well.
