The cottage was amazing we loved everything, the location, the small back garden and the vintage feel. The host was nice, accommodating and responsive! Highly recommended.

The road leading to it is very narrow, but that’s the nature of the area.

We stayed here for my dad’s 60th birthday and it was absolutely perfect. The main cottage has two very comfortable double bedrooms and a single room, and there’s also a lovely separate annex with its own double bed, wet room, and log burner – ideal for a bit of extra privacy. The host was genuinely exceptional. She went above and beyond to make our stay special, even putting up birthday decorations before we arrived and leaving thoughtful extras like milk, eggs, prosecco, crisps, and biscuits. When I messaged her with a question, she replied within a couple of minutes – incredibly helpful and friendly throughout. The property itself is stunning – a proper English Lakes cottage with all the modern comforts. There’s also a beautiful wood-burning hot tub on the patio above the house, not one of those plastic bubbly ones but a real wood-clad tub that adds to the charm. The host even started the fire for us a few hours before we arrived and left plenty of wood for both the log burners and the hot tub. You can see from their Instagram how beautiful the place is, but it’s even better in person. A traditional home full of character, spotlessly clean, and set up perfectly for a relaxing getaway. Couldn’t recommend it more – we’d love to come back!

The style and decor

There was no lighting up to hot tub or at hot tub for the evening. The doors were very creaky

Beautiful old cottage, I wish we had stayed longer. Beautiful views and very quiet. Lovely big lounge room and the kitchen was well equiped. The stairs are quite steep so was grateful for the self contained bedroom with shower room behind the house, perfect for my elderly mother. The location was stunning but be aware such a gorgeous spot requires driving up narrow winding roads.

While overall we were very happy with the cleanliness of the property we did find when stripping the beds at the end of our stay that the bed in the self contained room at the back that there wasn’t a mattress protector under the sheet and the mattress was stained.

There is nowhere on the booking.com listing that states the main bedroom is in a separate building. This room isn't lockable on the inside unless you use the main keys from the house, staying in it alone it didn't feel very safe. Had we known as 5 young women, one of our party would be separated during the night we wouldn't have booked this. There seems to be a wasp issue out the back as we had wasps in the kitchen constantly, even with windows and doors closed. This became a pain after a while. On the photos the garden area looks lovely and new but in person the outdoor dining area is covered with overgrown trees/weeds etc which meant we couldn't use it. The solar powered lights to the stairs that lead upto the hot tub didn't work at all and no lighting around the hot tub area so it was unsafe and unable to be used in the afternoon, which is unfortunate as this was the main selling point for us and the whole reason we booked this cottage. We found out on the day that the hot tub is manually heated using firewood and takes upto 3 hours to heat up. This was a real disappointment as once you get back from your day out it would be too dark to use by the time it heated up. The house itself is really beautiful and I can not fault the host at all but the listing needs updating as we spent £900 for the weekend and we left pretty deflated.
