Location

We arrived at 3:30. No staff other than maintenance man. No parking on site due to construction. Went upstairs to our room at the end of a long dark (No lights on at all) hallway. Had to punch in a code to enter, but keypad was knee level so I had to get down on hands and knees and use flashlight on my phone to see. Room had no shades or curtains, only a pair of sheers that did not block light at all. Bed tiny (full size?) and sagged in the middle. It also creaked any time either of us moved to try to get comfortable. My back still hurts. Tiny tv sat on a tiny table that was same level as the mattress so you couldn't see if you laid down. Only room for one chair so my husband sat on chair and I sat cross legged on the bed. It was a Roku tv which meant it needed wifi to work. I tried to connect my phone to the wifi to check some emails but if I put wifi on my phone the tv didn't work. Took wifi off of my phone and tried to watch TV. It kept freezing and kicking us off. Annoying to try to reconnect tv in middle of watching a show. Although there is a restaurant/bar on the premises, it was Tuesday so it wasn't open. Decided to go out to dinner. Only good thing about hotel is we could walk to brewpub down the street. Had a nice dinner at the brewpub. Came back and tried to watch a little tv before bed. Halfway through the show it kicked us off wifi again. Tried to connect to both channels (first one, then the other) and it didn't work. Finally gave up and went to bed. Tossed and turned all night because the bed was that horrible. Woke up and couldn't wait to pack up and leave. Still no one at the desk as we were leaving. Can honestly say this is the worst hotel experience I have ever had...avoid at all costs!

I like older hotels which are not owned by chains and have history. We were in the Queen suite with a living room, bedroom in the turret and a small kitchen. It was a little worn but charming. The maid in the morning was very sweet and can running after us in the parking lot as we had left computer cords behind. Easy checking and out.

The city was laying new water lines and the entire street was torn up. So the restaurant and downstairs was closed. I believe we were the last guests before they close until street repairs are finished

Great view of lake, soon to be obscured by ugly condos. Nice retro decor. Excellent historical feel.

No staff on duty, Restaurant and bar has never been open when we stayed there. Would have been a nice completion to the historical stay. Nothing much in the area as far as food, taverns or music within 15 minute walk. 2025, very little parking as the street has been removed. No elevator, main staircase in poor repair, been that way for the past few years when we stayed.

"Historic hotels are always interesting, but you need to be open to their unique characteristics"

We needed a place to park our RV for a second day and we were allowed to park in their parking lot.

"We were disappointed - the place only lived up to it's name by being overpriced."

3.0

There was major construction in front of hotel; we were given no notice. The place is old in no longer charming ways. There was no hot water for our shower. Self check in meant no human contact when you arrive, although we needed help to get into our coded room.

Beautiful setting across from park

Didn’t match online pictures. Very rundown and most things were closed. It was a short term residence for some.

"Love the history."

7.0

Loved the history. The hospitality was nonexistent. Bed was clean and comfortable. Knowing we were surrounded by live-ins and kinda just felt like it was sketchy at times.

Such potential, yet it's in such despair. A million dollar view, a million dollar location, if only the heart was behind it all still. I hope some day the magic is brought back to The Ludington, as it deserves to be so.
