Good hotel with view of the river and they offered excellent river cruises.

No internet and due to remoteness, there was little to do throughout the day without a car. Did not offer water and didn’t have any when we asked, after our first night, therefore had to buy from the only restaurant in the area, which was expensive for only a small bottle.

Miss Hana at reception was fantastic i booked the room only then picked my trips once there she took care of all my bookings and got me on boat trips when my jungle treks were cancelled for safety reasons(elephants too close) I did 1 6am boat trip 2x 4pm boats trips and a 7.30pm boat trips. I saw the big 5 in my 1st 2 trips which was awesome. The highlights were the herd of Elephatnts and Orangutans and seeing a family of otters. The accommodation is basic but has aircon , fans and showers for a budget option is was great value for money. The restraunt there is Muslim (there is no alcohol for miles) the mee goreng alay(chicken) and the daging(beef) are the best we have had. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative to the super lodges you could do a lot worse than stay here. Great staff , food anf guides

Die Lage am Fluß ist für Dschungeltouren per Boot (sehr zu empfehlen, Dauer 1-2 Std. zu festen Zeiten.) perfekt, der Bootsanleger ist fast vor der Haustüre. Der Guide konnte uns mehr Tierarten zeigen als erwartet - u.a. seltene Nasenaffen und Orangutans, Krokodile / Gaviale, Nashornvögel, einen Waran, diverse andere seltene Vögel (Fisch-Eule, Langschwanz-xx...), kleinere Affenarten und der Knaller war eine ganze Herde (>=15!) der seltenen Borneo-Waldelefanten. Die Verpflegung (falls gebucht) erfolgt im einfachen Restaurant schräg gegenüber mit Terrasse am Fluss und schmeckt gut. Das Zimmer war zweckmäßig ausgestattet und sauber. Die Anfahrt mit dem Mietwagen war dank Handynavigation unkompliziert (abgesehen von teilweise sehr holprigen Straßen). Parken war gratis und der Weg vom Parkplatz zum Zimmer kurz.

Der Durchlauferhitzer in unserem Zimmer hatte zwar Strom, trotzdem blieb die sparsam tröpfelnde Dusche kalt.

What I liked about the stay was the beautiful view from the restaurant, which created a very pleasant atmosphere, even though the food itself did not meet expectations. The room was acceptable, with properly working air conditioning and hot water, which made the stay comfortable enough. The location is quite remote, but that can also be a positive if you are looking to relax and enjoy nature and wildlife. There are a few local restaurants nearby that offer better food options than the hotel restaurant, which was convenient. The price is also reasonable for what you get, and it’s helpful that there is another lodge nearby where you can arrange tours at similar prices. Additionally, the dogs in front of the hotel were cute and generally friendly, which added some charm to the place.

On the other hand, there were several downsides. The breakfast provided at the nearby restaurant was very poor in quality. When we arrived around 10:30 pm, the reception was closed and there was no note or information about check-in, so I had to go to the restaurant and ask them to contact the hotel staff, which was inconvenient. The tours organized by the hotel were not very satisfying, mainly because the guide’s explanations were quite weak. The remote location also makes it difficult to get around Sukau without a rental car. There is no internet available, which may not suit everyone. The hotel restaurant itself is not recommended compared to nearby alternatives. The dogs, while friendly, can become aggressive if you try to eat near your room. There was also no room cleaning service during our three-day stay, and overall, the cleanliness and service standards could definitely be improved.

Site by the river. Restaurant and jetty for cruises close on other side of the small street. Standard comfort accomodation. View to the river from corridor in front of the room. Economic boat tours 3 times a day with dinner included at extra fee. Seen proboscis monkeys, hornbill-birds and big crocodile, 3 of 5 Borneo big fives. Free orange utan we met downstairs from Gomantong caves viewing platform sitting 10m by the stairs the 4th of Borneo fives. Try also footwalk in Sukau to Keruak cave alone or with local guide.- tours are offered at site. We found only fresh faecies of elefant there, the 5th of the big five. There are extra payed tours to see elefants by boat in a 3hours cruise.

Boats have no rain roof. Take good rain suit with you. In march early afternoon and next morning were rainy, we cancelled 1 morning tour. Wet cloth are not allowed to dry in public corridor of the accomodation. Alcohol is not to be selled in restaurant and supermarkets. Bring your own australien red wine from the city if you need a drink after dinner

Friendly staff, great boat trips, good location for animal spotting

No other restaurants nearby and although the restaurant on site was tasty, quite limited vegetarian options if staying for more than 2 so days
