"Beautiful Property, But Disappointing Experience"

2.0

We recently stayed at this property and overall the hotel itself was nice. The grounds were beautiful and many of the staff members we encountered were friendly. Unfortunately, we experienced ongoing issues that significantly impacted our stay. The air conditioning in our room did not work properly, and we consistently had problems with hot water. We reported the hot water issue multiple times throughout our stay, but it was never fully corrected. After a long day, not having reliable air conditioning and hot water was extremely frustrating. We were also offered a complimentary couples massage if we attended a presentation about the Circle One club. We agreed, thinking it would be a brief and informative meeting. Instead, the presentation felt very uncomfortable and high-pressure. It also took up the majority of our final full day at the resort, leaving us waiting around and unable to fully enjoy our last day of vacation. To make matters worse, after completing the meeting as requested, we were told the massages could not be honored because there was no staff available. This was very disappointing, especially considering we had already given up so much of our time. The resort has potential, but the unresolved maintenance issues and the handling of the promotional meeting left us frustrated and disappointed. I would recommend future guests be cautious about committing valuable vacation time to promotional presentations and ensure any room issues are fully addressed early in their stay.

"A Lush Sanctuary with Amazing Food and Wildlife!"

10.0

My husband and I just finished a romantic Wednesday-to-Wednesday getaway at Blue Diamond. It was exactly the quiet, relaxing retreat we were looking for. The resort has a unique, jungle-like atmosphere that makes it feel very private, and the staff were all very attentive, professional, and friendly from start to finish. The Suite: Junior Cenote Lagoon (Ground Floor) The room was incredibly large and spacious. Cleanliness was top-notch; the housekeeping team kept everything spotless. We had a huge washroom with a huge walk-in shower for two and a private outdoor plunge pool. * The Bar Fridge: It was well-stocked, though we did have to call and ask a few times to have it replenished during our stay. * Pro Tip on Views: We were on the ground floor, and our view of the lagoon was almost entirely blocked by the lush trees. If a clear water view is important to you, I’d recommend requesting a second-level room. * The Bed: The king-size bed was very firm—something to keep in mind if you prefer a softer mattress. Dining & Service The food was amazing—unique, tasty, and full of variety. We mostly ate at Aguamarina and the oceanfront bar. While items like steak and lobster cost extra, the included à la carte options were so excellent we never felt the need to pay for an upgrade. The waiters and waitresses were fantastic—always attentive and professional. * The Reservation Surprise: For the first part of our week, the resort was quiet (maybe 60–70 people). However, by the second-to-last day, the resort filled up. We only had a short wait for a table, but we were surprised to learn on our last night that reservations are actually required for dinner. We hadn't made any all week, so definitely check the policy when you arrive! Wildlife, Grounds & Weather * The Highlight: The wildlife was incredible! We saw Coatis, Agoutis, and plenty of iguanas daily. Our favorite ritual was visiting the dock at 4:00 PM to see the resident crocodile, Esmeralda. * The Grounds: Spectacularly maintained; we enjoyed the long walks, but friendly golf cart drivers were always passing by if we wanted a lift. * Weather: We had a few really windy days to start our trip, but fortunately, it cleared up and was beautiful for the rest of the week. Pool & Beach Conditions * The Pool: Always clean, and we never had a problem finding a seat. We also enjoyed sitting by the bar for evening music and entertainment. * The Beach: The shoreline is narrow due to erosion and the seaweed is heavy. A safety tip for walkers: We went for a long walk down the beach (past the resort property) and I actually sank to above my knees in an area where the sand had washed over a deep patch of seaweed. It was a bit scary, so watch your step if you wander off-property! Important Notes for Future Guests * Checkout Policy: We were surprised to learn that the resort charges $20 per hour, per person, to stay on the resort grounds beyond 1:00 PM, even after you've checked out of your room. Factor this into your budget if you have a late transfer like we did! * Room Keys: Our room cards frequently deactivated, which was a minor hassle. However, the staff nearby were very helpful in letting us in, and the front desk was professional in delivering new keys to our door. Verdict: Despite the windy start and the unexpected checkout fees, the incredible food, cleanliness, and friendly staff made this a wonderful stay. We’d definitely return!

"Wonderful escape"

10.0

This is a truly adults-only. There is no loud music, no parties, just pure relaxation and peaceful surroundings. One small concern we have is the construction next door. We sincerely hope that in the future it won’t affect the quiet and harmonious atmosphere that makes this place so special. As for the food, we can only say it is spectacular. Every single dish is absolutely delicious which is honestly rare for an all-inclusive resort. The beach is beautiful, and the lush nature surrounding the property makes everything feel even more magical and serene.

"Blue Diamond resort was perfect...."

10.0

Sitting at the pool bar on our last day before we head back to the snow. The resort has been fantastic. The staff have been outstanding and friendly. The food is the best I've had any resort. The rooms, sure, may be a little dated, but the jr. Suite is clean and quiet large. Because the resort is away from the larger ones, it is quiet, which was perfect for us to relax. Lots of wildlife around. It's a long walk from the lobby to the beach, but we never had any issues catching a ride on the numerous golf carts that continuously run between them.

"Not quite 5 star"

8.0

We stayed at the Blue Diamond late January for 10 days. We were at patio five which is half way between the main lobby and the beach. Our room was huge and we'll appointed. There were large sliding doors that opened onto a patio with a table, chairs and 2 padded loungers. The room had a seating area at one end, large king bed and a spacious bathroom concealed behind a mirrored barn door. There was also a large walk in closet. The fridge was replenished daily with pop, water and beer. There was a Nespresso type coffee machine as well. My only suggestion for improvement would be to update the pillows that were very hard and non-plyable. We walked about 10 minutes down a paved path to the beach and 2 of the 3 restaurants on the property. You could request a ride by golf cart or use bicycles the resort provided. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch and most of our dinners overlooking the beautiful waterfront. There wait staff and bar tenders were very kind and served a nice variety of dishes. We found lots of options we enjoyed on the menu. My husband especially liked the chicken wings at Ceviche, the beach side restaurant we often had lunch at. The breakfasts were great. We took classes in sushi making and mixing cocktails, lots of fun. There was another dinner spot called Amber, which was more of a fine dinning experience. They would start you off with an amuse-bouche followed by a 3-4 course meal. A really nice spot that required a reservation. The resort was rated as 5 star. I'm sure it was when it initially opened. It is still a lovely spot to stay. But starting to look tired and in need of repair. There were railings that were loose and would not offer support if you fell against them. The beach side restaurant called Aquamarine(?) had large windows to a vaulted ceiling. They desperately need to be washed. Chairs in the same spot were hard directors chairs that could be updated. At Amber there was a persistent wine sommelier who was always trying to have us upgrade our wine choices for higher priced options not included in our package. All of this being said we heard rumor of the resort being sold to another owner. Hopefully whoever takes it over will be able to make improvements that will give it back it's 5 🌟 rating.

"Amazing experience"

10.0

Everyone at this hotel is so friendly and wonderful, the stay was gorgeous for our honeymoon. We were treated to a honeymoon breakfast at our room, splurged on a love spa package and a romantic sunset dinner on the waterfront but even without these additional items our stay was incredible. We had the best time from adventures on our patio tour with Dayana, the conversations with buggy cart drivers at all hours of the day, the wonderful bartender Martin learning about the origins of tequila, beautiful beach views, many options for delicious food (our favourite was Ceviche bar), countless native animal encounters and we enjoyed being able to ride a bike together to get from A to B and we will seek to return to Mexico and visit Blue Diamond again in the future! We were visiting from Australia for our honeymoon, most people are from America or Canada so I believe it was a bit surprising to have some Australians visiting perhaps for the first time to Blue Diamond, thank you for welcoming us and we will certainly recommend this stay to others. If we can provide two pieces of feedback to further refine the experience, please keep Ceviche bar open for extended hours perhaps until 10pm or later, it has great food and is worth having a snack place after dinner is finished at Ambar or Aguamarina. Also can the buggy carts fleet be expanded so more are available? There were often long wait times as we understand the resort is quite large.

"Great Experience Overall"

10.0

My husband and I relaxed at Blue Diamond Resort and did a Temazcal. It was overbooked but they accommodated us with an extra day and DayAna was excellent with this spiritual experience. We highly recommend her and the experience. The star of the experience was Felipe, Manuel, and Hernando. Francisco, Daniel, and Fernando were excellent on our stay as well. They were beyond amazing. The rooms and bicycles can use an update. The A/C was warmer than expected and the water didn’t get as hot as desired but after a call it warmed up. The overall experience was great for us. We truly enjoyed our time there because of the great hospitality and care. We appreciate your services tremendously, thank you staff.

"Not a typical all-inclusive"

8.0

This is an all-inclusive without most of the trappings of an all-inclusive. There are no buffets, bracelets, towel cards, loud activities or noisy shows. There are beautiful grounds, very good food, a quiet beach, a small spa, very large rooms (at least the junior suites), a natural swimming hole (cenote) and friendly staff. It has the appearance of a formerly 5-star hotel that has aged somewhat. You will enjoy it quite a bit it if you are looking for a quiet resort that doesn't feel like an AIC and you don't mind: occasional maintenance issues, having to ask to have the minibar replenished and towels delivered, and waiting for a golf cart to take you to the beach (if you can't or won't walk up to a km from your room). Some caveats: There is a very large hotel going up on the beach just north of this hotel; only a few rooms are exposed to the construction noise but you don't want any of them. We heard from one or two guests that they had little or no hot water for long periods. While we were very impressed with the quality and variety of the food, we can't vouch for the red meat dishes.
