The Pheasantry - guest house in beautiful rural location

Excellent facilities, well catered for and the small touches, like having some milk in the fridge when I arrived made all the difference. It is a beautiful, peaceful location, but within easy reach of Reading, Theale or Newbury.

Location was okay for what we needed - a nearby bed and breakfast for a camping trip. I arrived half an hour before check in, and was able to leave my items and come back. We requested for no scented candles and constant aerosols and this had been accounted for. Good selection of breakfast cereals, spreads and eggs. Booking.com had passed on the extra bed we requested for but not that the booking was for an adult and two children, which was why requested for an extra bed to be made up in the first place - not an issue but host seemed surprised. Clean sheets and beddings.

I fell off the bed twice at night and did not have a restful sleep. The first time I was wondering if I had not got into bed properly. It turns out bed was missing a number of slats - which is very unusual and strange. Mentioned it to host in the morning and they were not aware of this before which leaves one wondering from a maintenance perspective - surely should have been noticed when sheets or mattress toppers are changed ? Milk in the fridge for breakfast drink in the morning was rancid - was wondering why milk was all curdled when warmed. Turns out it had expired two days before - host brought replacement and apologised. No instruction for the hob - simple note on the wall beside the hob, similar to wi-fi instructions would have been helpful. Child wanted to play tennis when we arrived which was advertised with the property. Was told child couldn't play because the court was wet - couldn't do any of the other outdoor activities advertised, so ended up with netflix.

We couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Lauren and Jamie were so helpful and friendly, and their property was beautiful. The facilities were perfect and we didn’t lack for anything. We’d stay again in a heartbeat.

The perfect space to press pause, we loved all the little extras and the kindness of Lauren to offer to drive us to our concert nearby. We would thoroughly recommend

Beautiful, peaceful unique location . Very comfy bed and bedding . Lots of extras included for a light breakfast should we have wanted it . Bread, butter, eggs , milk . Crisps and plenty of choice of teas and coffees and lovely to have the choice of a coffee maker and a kettle . Plenty of lovely fluffy towels and toiletries even some ear plugs which were a godsend as my partner had forgotten his ( apparently I snore 😴🙈) Very thoughtfully laid out and presented so our stay albeit just one evening , was very comfortable and enjoyable .

We didn’t notice any signage to direct us to the correct property as there are a few propertys along the drive but we soon found the right place .

The location was excellent. Set in beautiful grounds the flat was convenient for the event we were going to. The welcome pack was much appreciated as the nearest shop was some distance away. The bed and sofas were very comfortable and we slept well. The kitchen was very well equipped with good quality crockery and glasses.

We knew from the description and photo that headroom was limited as the flat is built into the eaves above the owners range of three garages. My husband is nearly six foot tall and could only stand up down the middle of the room. As I am only just over five foot tall I had no problems!
