Villa Albizia, Chiang Mai

Outstanding Lanna-style villa in Doi Saket! Comfortable room, great breakfast, extensive and well looked after gardens, plus an excellent and very well maintained pool 😁 Extremely hospitable host, who went out of his way to ensure that we were comfortable, and informed about local sites, venues, and restaurants!

The bed was too hard for me (although fine for my wife 😯)

Wow, I'm not sure where to start.. An experience way beyond booking into a simple hotel or homestay. This property is a rare 10/10 on booking.com for very good reason. Jim is the best host you could possibly imagine. He doesn't just go the extra mile to help make your stay comfortable and special, he goes the extra 1000 miles and more. Staying with Jim and the lovely dogs Lily and Matoom was more like discovering long lost family than a simple stay in a beautiful house. Now, the property... an absolutely stunning house and beautiful large guest rooms with views of the "garden".. (calling it a garden is an injustice, they are "grounds", expansive and lovingly maintained down to the last detail). Large windows surrounding the room meant waking up as though you were in nature, but in the most comfortable bed I think I've ever slept in. I sat on the balcony and sipped the copious amounts of fresh coffee that Jim provided, before eating fresh fruit from the trees in the garden, and wonderful cooked breakfasts to follow. You don't really need to leave the property... take a swim in the beautiful infinity pool, surrounded by trees and flowers, sun loungers, and views of the rolling countryside and forest hills in the background. Or sit on the veranda or main balcony and enjoy the views whilst reading and relaxing. If you do feel like venturing out however, Jim assists with providing a hire motorcycle from a local shop, and it's a beautiful experience to be riding through the countryside and rice fields in the sunshine. You can stop at the nearby reservoir and admire the views over lunch in some of the wonderful cafes, or ride up to a quiet temple with an excellent viewpoint, a cat, and lots of buddhists being tranquil. I can't praise this property, location, and most of all the host enough. This is the reason why a 10/10 score on booking.com exists.

There is probably not enough time i could spend describing how lovely the property and owner was. Jim was the perfect host and guide to the local area. Nothing was too much trouble for him and if he had the time he was more than happy to take us around the local area. The breakfast he serves will certainly set you up for day with no need to eat till later in the day, with a wide selection of fresh fruits including ones from his own garden...best Mangos we have ever tasted. We couldn't thank Jim (and of course Lily and Matoom) enough for their warm welcome and stay.

Not really anything bad to say about the property or service. The location was rural and quiet, with just a 30min taxi ride from the main city to keep us entertained. With a lovely lady 10mins down the road to rent a bike from, you can explore the countryside at your leisure!

Staying here was an unforgettable experience — a true hidden gem. The accommodation is not only spotlessly clean, but also designed with charm, and attention to detail. You can truly feel the love that has gone into creating this peaceful oasis. The garden is an absolute dream — beautifully maintained and the perfect place to relax and unwind. Despite our late arrival, we were warmly welcomed with a refreshing drink, which immediately made us feel at home. The dogs were gentle and friendly, and seeing them each day brought us real joy. Jim is without a doubt one of the best hosts we’ve ever met. He made our stay perfect — offering great local recommendations, preparing a delicious, lovingly made breakfast every morning, and even driving us when we needed transport. We wholeheartedly recommend staying here to anyone visiting the area. It’s a place filled with warmth, beauty, and genuine hospitality — you won’t want to leave. Thank you, Jim

Never have I seen a perfect 10 with so many reviews on Booking.com, so it was with great expectations and anticipation that we arrived at Villa Albizia. After two magical days at the property, we were sad to leave but cannot wait to return. Jim, the owner of this amazing place, provided the most amazing sanctuary that I have ever seen in all my travels. The villa itself is breathtaking, filled with many tasteful and thoughtful touches and surrounded with lush flora and fauna. Two boisterous and incredibly sweet dogs, Matoom and Lily, kept us company the whole time - much to our delight. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the wonderful homemade breakfast that Jim prepares with much care and love, and we also very much looked forward to our conversations with such a knowledgeable and kind host.

We cannot find fault with anything - the place is paradise on earth.

Our stay at the house was absolutely perfect. The place is beautiful, clean, cozy, and fully equipped with everything we needed. This property was a step into paradise. The peaceful garden’s flowers and bird sounds were heavenly. The pool was situated a small distance from the house and surrounded with greenery that gave you a sense of privacy. The breakfast served on the terrace outside with views of the rice paddy through the trees, was fresh and delicious. The house was beautiful and tastefully decorated. Jim, the owner, was happy to share information about the house, the decor and the surrounding area features. Jim was very attentive and generous with his time. It was truly a pleasure to spend time at Villa Albizia.
