Jaw-Dropping Lodge with Hot Tub on Lake Windermere

Lovely location, Lodge was clean and had everything you could need.

Could do with an extra blanket or two stored away. But apart from that it was excellent.

The weather!! Obviously nobody can control that!

The location was perfect, right between Bowness and Ambleside which are equal distance to walk to, and not far from Wray Castle or Rydal by car, overall perfect for walking routes. We got lucky with the weather too which made all the difference waking up lakeside, the sunrises and sunsets over Windermere are truly breathtaking and you could watch them from the comfort and warmth of the lodge! The lodge is very spacious, a large entry way which was great when bringing in bags or coming in from a walk, 3 bedrooms, two separate bathrooms and ample living and dining space. There is also a washing machine which came in handy for swimsuits once we had used the hot tub. The hot tub was an added bonus and made the frosty, clear nights much more enjoyable. The heating was very effective and it was necessary due to below 0 temperatures.The lodge was decorated with a Christmas tree which was a nice touch for the time of year. One allocated parking space outside if you are driving.

I was not given the lodge name or number in the check-in instructions so I had to request that on the drive, also no directions to the lodge so took us a moment to find it as the site is bigger than it looks. The lodge was superficially clean but you could tell it had not been deep cleaned, carpets needed a more thorough hoovering and the pots, pans, dishes, glasses and cutlery had to be washed before use. On arrival there was no tea, coffee or milk and as the "convenience" store closed shortly after check in time (which we were not made aware of), we couldn't buy any on the first night either. Twice we tried to go for breakfast on site, the first time, there were no staff to serve us for over 20 minutes, lots of people were waiting, and the second time we were told it was closed before 10am, also unable to use click and collect service in the evening (not told why), which meant we had to leave the site to shop and return to the lodge to cook, all a bit inconvenient when you're away solely to relax and wanted cooking and washing dishes to be off the cards. No site information pack so we had to research facilities and opening times (which proved to be inaccurate anyway).

Everything, just perfect had the best time ever, loved every single thing. Perfect for a family. We have booked again for April
