DoubleTree by Hilton Fiji - Sonaisali Island

The rooms were clean and comfortable. There was ample parking available on the mainland. The outdoor restaurant was a highlight - great food, a lovely setting and excellent customer service. Our stay included Fiji Night which featured a wonderful traditional singing and dancing show and was a standout cultural experience. Good breakfast selection. Access to and from ths property is via a hotel-run small boat. While this adds to the uniqueness of the hotel, allow extra time when planning movements to and from the hotel.

Overall, the property felt quite tired and in need of maintenance. At times, the hotel appeared understaffed, especially during breakfast. The photos online do not reflect the current condition of the hotel. A large section of the central lagoon pool was roped off to extend the kids play area, and there was a volleyball net significantly reducing the usuable space. The bubble pool was also not working during our stay and please note, there is no beach access. While there are positives - the restaurant, performance and room cleanliness - the facilities, staffing levels and overall presentation did not meet expectations for a Doubletree hotel. Based on our experience, we would not return.

Das Personal war sehr bemüht und hilfsbereit, auch wenn die Reservierungen für den Abend nicht immer geklappt haben. Auch da waren die Damen vom Service bemüht, mir trotzdem einen Platz anzubieten. Manche Kellner sind sehr aufmerksam und fragen, ob sie einem noch etwas bringen können.

Die Zimmer sind doch sehr in die Jahre gekommen und viele Macken und Kanten. Zudem kann man nicht sagen, dass regelmäßig gereinigt wird. Die Waschbecken, Spiegel und Co wurden nicht einmal gereinigt in der Woche. Auf den Ablagen war dick Staub und teilweise Tierkot zu finden. Bei einen 2 Sterne Hotel würde ich das vielleicht noch tolerieren, aber bei dem Namen Hilton finde ich das sehr schwach. Das Frühstück war auch sehr übersichtlich.

The staff were unbelievable. Siva at the pool bar couldn’t do enough to facilitate us but in the same instance wasn’t too overwhelming, an absolute gentleman. The same must be said for Kesha in the evenings, really nice people!

Exceptional staff, very attentive and they knew my name. Great on-site service and the meals were also quite decent. Prices were fair and it felt very much like I was away from home.

The lack of soundproofing. I stayed in one of the King Bure rooms and I could practically hear my neighbors. When you're on vacation, the last thing is you want is hearing noise from your own room.

The island itself was beautiful. There was always somewhere to sit, and it felt spacious and quiet whenever you needed it to be. We were able to properly relax and really enjoyed the peaceful holiday atmosphere. We also want to give a special thank you to Niko for the incredible hospitality every single day. He truly made our experience so memorable and always made us feel so welcomed and valued — he was definitely our favourite part of the stay. A huge thank you as well to Makelesi for our amazing experience at Tavu. We had such a fantastic time there and would highly recommend the restaurant to everyone staying at the resort. Lastly, thank you to Vase for keeping our room absolutely spotless every day. Coming back to a beautifully made bed with flowers and lovely notes each day made our stay feel extra special, and we genuinely loved those little touches.

Swimming pool needs attention, concrete "rocks" have decayed and sharp aggregate/gravel is exposed as it has aged and makes getting in hurt. Once on the white epoxy section its all good. Needs a grinding to make it smooth. Great pool otherwise
