Historic 2 bed gatehouse in private parkland

Location was perfect - 2 minutes walk to the train station and 4 minutes walk to the heart of the village where there are a number of lovely pubs/inns where one can eat or enjoy a drink. The huntsman inn and Esme’s tea rooms were our favourites. Interiors of the property exceeded our expectations - the photos do not quite do it justice. Character is maintained throughout but modern kitchen and bathroom add a level of convenience/comfort. Appliances easy to use and well maintained. We bought dishwasher tablets/detergent, however these were provided at the property. External areas of the property/setting were fabulous. Large field to the rear in which you can walk and see sheep, deer and squirrels. Very quiet area particularly at night.

Beautiful gate house in lovely grounds with a private garden. Table, chairs and BBQ in garden. Well equipped kitchen, tea, coffee, biscuits and all the basics provided, Comfortable bed and lounge. We would definetely return, very peaceful setting, pleasant stroll through grounds to an ancient church, deer, room for children to play. Walking distance to village, ample pubs, Restaurants etc.

Stairs very steep for anyone who's disabled.

It is the most wonderful place. A converted lodge house within fantastic open parkland. Curtains not really needed as secluded and private including a fenced garden. Walks direct from the house into countryside or a very short stroll into Brockenhurst. Fully equipped including books and games for rainy days or long evenings. Very good wifi.

Difficult to negotiate the entrance gates while trying to avoid tripping in the cattle grid. However it is very quirky and historic.

Amazing building, so much history and everything we needed for a comfortable stay with a toddler with hundreds of acres of private parkland.

There were a few maintenance issues we brought up with Jon, which he offered to address immediately.
